On the border with Romania, traffic will be restricted at one of the checkpoints until the end of winter: what is the best way to go?
Due to repair work on the border with Romania, traffic will be restricted at the Solotvyno-Sighetu-Marmaciei checkpoint until the end of February. Find out which checkpoints are better to cross the border during this period and where to expect the longest queues
The Solotvyno-Sighetu Marmatiei checkpoint on the border with Romania will restrict vehicular traffic until the end of February 2025 due to bridge repairs.
According to the State Customs Service, the restrictions will be in effect from January 10 to February 28 from 09:00 to 15:30. Importantly, pedestrians will be able to cross the border without restrictions.
For motorists, this will create additional inconveniences, so they should consider other route options and the workload of the checkpoints.
Alternative checkpoints on the border with Romania
For the duration of the restrictions at Solotvyno-Sighetu-Marmaciei, it is recommended to consider the following checkpoints:
1. “Dyakove - Halmeu”
Offers passage for cars and trucks.
Usually, the queues here are shorter than at the popular checkpoints. However, during the period of restrictions at Solotvyno, the load may increase.
2. “Krasnoyilsk - Vicu de Sousse”.
A new checkpoint that opened in December 2022.
It is focused on passenger vehicles, and so far there are fewer queues than at other crossings.
3. "Porubne-Siret.
One of the largest checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
It is open to cars and trucks, but due to the high traffic, long queues often form here, especially during the holidays.
