How Ukrainians can extend their temporary protection status in Ireland until March 2026: step-by-step instructions

The Irish Immigration Service has started the process of renewing temporary protection permits for Ukrainian citizens. If you wish to stay in Ireland until March 4, 2026, you must submit an application through the Irish Immigration Service (ISD) online portal.

The application process
Registration on the ISD portal
To apply for an extension of temporary protection, you need to:
Create an account on the ISD portal using your email address.
If you already have an account, log in to it.
Select the type of application
Go to the “Registration renewal applications” section.
Select the option “Renewal of temporary protection for Ukraine”.

What documents are required?
The following documents should be prepared for a successful application:
1. An identity document (passport, national card or birth certificate).
2. Proof of a valid temporary protection permit (Temporary Protection (TP) certificate, TP replacement letter or Irish residence permit).
3. Documents confirming residence in Ireland, which may include:
Certificate of employment.
Housing lease agreement.
Utility bills.
Educational documents (for students and schoolchildren).
Confirmation of contacts with government agencies.
4. Additional documents (if necessary).
Important notes
Renewal of the IRP card
You do not need to apply separately for renewal of your Irish residence permit (IRP) card.
It will be renewed automatically with the extension of temporary protection.
Possibility of a personal visit
You may be invited to visit Citywest Transit Hub to clarify information.
You will be notified of this by email.
A representative of the service will contact you to agree on a meeting time (from a hidden number).
All original documents must be brought to the meeting.
Application status
Your current Irish residence permit remains valid until the renewal process is completed.
You will be notified of the results of the application by email.
