What did you remember about the 2025 Oscars?
For Ukrainians, the most memorable moment was probably the curiosity with the famous Hollywood actor Adam Sandler, who came to the ceremony in a sporty style. ‘He wore shorts, sneakers and a blue sweatshirt, for which he was publicly criticised by the host of the ceremony.
The incident was very reminiscent of the recent dispute between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House. When the American leader reproached Zelenskyy for not wearing a business suit to the meeting, although the Ukrainian president had never worn a business suit in the last three years of war. Zelenskyy appears at events in military-style clothing with Ukrainian symbols.
The actor's image caught the attention of host Conan O'Brien. He addressed Sandler during his welcome speech. ‘Adam, what are you wearing? You look like a guy playing online poker at two in the morning,’ O'Brien joked.
Adam Sandler said in response that he liked his appearance. ‘You know, I like the way I look because I'm a good person. And I don't care how I'm dressed or not. My shorts and my comfortable sweatshirt touched you so much that you decided to humiliate me in front of the public. Well, I'm sorry!’ the actor said.
The network believes that the organisers of the award deliberately drew an analogy with the last meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky.
We remind you! The Porcelain War, a film about the war in Ukraine, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Documentary category. We talked about the plot of the film, its authors, other contending documentaries, and the main nominations.
