Zakarpattia is a region that enchants with its unique atmosphere. Mountains, thermal waters, ancient castles and natural wonders attract travellers at any time of the year. Springtime reveals the unique beauty of this region: it is at this time that crocuses bloom, creating fantastic lavender and purple carpets among the Carpathian landscapes.

Take a trip to Zakarpattia with Visit Ukraine to see everything with your own eyes!

Mystical history and thermal waters

The first stop is Mukachevo's Palanok Castle, where history comes to life in every stone. This medieval fortress is located on a 68-metre-high mountain of volcanic origin and is a true symbol of invincibility. The majestic walls, ancient legends and panoramic views from the top are what make every tourist fall in love with it.

Next, relax in the thermal pools of the Kosyno complex. Here you can not only relax in hot waters with healing properties, but also visit 7 unique saunas - from eucalyptus to salt fox hole. Of particular interest are the pools with the aroma of wine, beer, coffee and palenka. After such a rest, tourists go to the local wine tasting to enjoy the true flavours of Transcarpathia.

Lake Synevyr and brown bears

The next day, a trip to one of the seven natural wonders of Ukraine. Lake Synevyr enchants with its silence and majesty. It is also called the ‘Sea Eye’ of the Carpathians because the water here is so clear that it reflects the sky like a mirror. Along the way, tourists can taste the healing mineral water in the village of Kelechyn and stop at the Synevyr Pass, which offers breathtaking views.

The Brown Bear Rehabilitation Centre is located next to the lake. This is a place where rescued animals get a second chance at life. Watching bears returning to their natural environment is a real pleasure for all wildlife lovers.

After exploring the natural wonders of the Carpathians, tourists will visit Kolochava, a unique village with a rich history. It is home to the Old Village Museum, which takes you back to the past centuries and tells you about the lives of local residents. This is the place where a real miracle of nature begins in late March - the flowering of crocuses. The purple fields of flowers spreading out among the Carpathian landscapes create an incredible atmosphere and leave an unforgettable impression.

Conquering the mountains and the Shipot waterfall

The last day of the trip is full of adventures: tourists go to the foot of Mount Hymba in Pylypets, where the majestic Borzhava ridge opens up. Here you can climb to the top by lift or jeep, take impressive photos and enjoy the mountain scenery.

The trip ends with a visit to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Carpathians - Shipot. Its cascades fall from a height of 14 metres, creating a fabulous picture. The final touch of the trip is a delicious outdoor lunch, after which you can only return home with unforgettable memories.
