Ski holidays in Ukraine are not limited to the most famous resorts — there are places in the Carpathians that combine long slopes, a peaceful atmosphere and affordable prices. Krasia attracts tourists with its natural terrain, lack of crowds and the opportunity to fully enjoy the mountains without rushing. Find out more about winter holidays and skiing at the Krasia resort
As recently reported by UNIAN, more and more Ukrainians are paying attention not only to popular ski locations, but also to resorts with a more relaxed atmosphere and more affordable conditions. One such destination is Krasia in Zakarpattia.
Why people go there, why experienced riders and beginners appreciate the resort, and how to plan a trip — we will tell you more in this article.

Where the Carpathians remain authentic
Krasia is located in Transcarpathia, at the foot of the mountain of the same name, not far from the village of Vyshka. The resort has long had a reputation as a place for those who want to ski in the mountains without queues and hustle and bustle. People come here for the feeling of space, the natural terrain, and honest mountain skiing.
The resort's strong point — the slopes
Krasia's main trump card is the length of its slopes. It is home to the longest ski slope in the Ukrainian Carpathians, which stretches for several kilometres and has a significant elevation difference. Thanks to this, skiing does not seem monotonous: one route combines smooth sections and more dynamic sections.
The terrain allows both beginners and confident athletes to feel comfortable. The upper sections are more suitable for experienced riders, while the lower sections are for gentle descents and training. The resort attracts particular attention with its freeriding opportunities when weather conditions are favourable for off-piste skiing.

When does the season start and who comes here?
This year, the ski season in Krasia began in early January and gradually covered all the main slopes. From the very first days, the resort has been welcoming guests from different regions of Ukraine, from Zakarpattia to the central and western regions. The flow of tourists is noticeable, but even at the height of the season, it is much less crowded here than at the country's largest resorts.

How to get to Krasia without any hassle?
The most convenient option for many is to travel by car. It is about 70 kilometres from Uzhhorod to Krasia, and the journey takes approximately one hour. This distance allows you to even come for just one day.
For those travelling without a car, trains to Uzhhorod or nearby stations are suitable, and then electric trains, buses or transfers from local guesthouses. Many accommodation providers help with transport, which greatly simplifies logistics.
Lifts and conditions on the slopes
Skiing on Krasia is provided by chair lifts, which operate in different areas of the mountain and allow you to reach the upper slopes without changing or with only one change.
The slopes are regularly groomed with snowcats, and artificial snowmaking systems are used when necessary. At the same time, natural snow plays a special role, forming a comfortable base for skiing even in changeable weather.
How much will a winter holiday in the Carpathians cost — we explain here.
How much does skiing and equipment cost in Krasia?
Prices are another reason for Krasia's popularity. The cost of ski passes is significantly lower than at large resorts and even more so in Europe. Rates depend on the day of the week and the duration of skiing: you can choose a few hours, half a day or several days in a row. Discounts are available for children and privileged categories, and the youngest visitors ski for free.
Equipment is easy to rent on site. Ski or snowboard sets are available at reasonable prices, and discounts are often available for rentals of several days.
Accommodation and food: homely and without overpaying
Accommodation in Krasia ranges from guest houses to hotels and cottages near the slopes. Prices start from budget options and increase depending on the level of comfort and meals included. If you wish, you can stay a little further from the resort and save significantly.
Food is also affordable: cafes, kolyba huts, and local cuisine spots offer simple and hearty dishes. Transcarpathian soups, grilled meat, and hot drinks that warm you up after skiing are especially popular.
Not just skiing: what to do after the slopes?
After an active day, tourists are happy to recharge their batteries in the vats and baths that are available in almost every neighbourhood of the resort. Horse riding, tubing, snowmobiling and tastings of local products — cheeses, wines and other craft delicacies — are also available. For many guests, it is this intimate atmosphere that becomes the decisive argument in favour of Krasia.
