On 5 February 2026, the Visit Ukraine platform will launch an updated Life & Health insurance programme for foreigners planning to travel to Ukraine. This comprehensive solution has been developed taking into account the real risks of staying in the country and fully complies with visa requirements.

The programme was created by the insurer INNOVATIVE INSURANCE CAPITAL and combines medical protection with accident coverage in a convenient digital format — without paperwork and with transparent terms and conditions.

What does the Life & Health programme cover?

Life & Health combines two key classes of insurance. The first is accident protection. The policy covers the risks of traumatic injuries, permanent disability and death. It is fundamentally important that the programme includes so-called passive military risks. These include injuries caused by ammunition fragments, the effects of air defence systems, the destruction of buildings and other indirect consequences of war that foreigners may encounter even far from the front line.

The second class is medical insurance focused on emergency situations. The policy covers ambulance calls in life-threatening situations, emergency hospitalisation, surgery and treatment of acute conditions in hospital. It also provides for urgent outpatient care: doctor consultations, basic diagnostics and medication. The programme includes repatriation and full coverage of hospital stays, which is especially important for foreigners without access to the national healthcare system.

Suitable for visas to Ukraine

The updated Life & Health policy fully complies with Ukrainian legislation and international insurance standards. It is accepted for obtaining a visa to enter Ukraine, as it contains the necessary amount of medical and insurance coverage and is issued by an officially registered insurer. For applicants, this means no risk of refusal due to ‘inadequate insurance’.

Financial conditions

The total insured amount under the programme is equivalent to €30,000. For certain risks, a limit of up to 100,000 hryvnia applies. The deductible is 0%, meaning that all expenses are covered by the insurance company from the first hryvnia — without the need to pay anything extra yourself. The cost of the policy is calculated individually and depends on the age of the insured person, which makes the tariff more fair and personalised.

Who can take out a policy and under what conditions

Any legally capable individual — a resident or non-resident of Ukraine, with the exception of citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus — can take out Life & Health insurance. The age of the insured is from 3 to 75 years. The insurance coverage is valid for one calendar year, which is convenient for both short-term trips and long-term stays in the country.

The policy is valid throughout Ukraine, with the exception of temporarily occupied territories and areas of active hostilities. This approach is in line with international insurance practice in conditions of military risk and allows a balance to be maintained between real coverage and safety.

You can take out insurance covering military risks in just a few minutes on the Visit Ukraine portal. Travel with confidence and ensure yourself an unforgettable trip!
