The labor market in Ukraine in 2026: how salaries, vacancies, and demand have changed compared to pre-war 2022
The Ukrainian labor market has changed significantly since pre-war 2022 — salaries have increased, the structure of vacancies has changed, and employer demand has shifted. Find out which professions are currently the best paid, who companies are looking for most, and how job seekers' interests have changed
Over the past four years, the Ukrainian labor market has undergone significant changes. Not only have salaries changed, but so have the structure of demand for professions, the popularity of vacancies among job seekers, and the priorities of employers. Despite the war and economic challenges, the average salary in the country has increased significantly, and interest in remote and communication work has grown considerably. This is evidenced by data from OLX Robota analysts.
Salaries in Ukraine have almost doubled
Comparing January 2026 with pre-war January 2022, the median salary in Ukraine has increased by almost 94%. This means that in four years, the incomes of employees in many sectors have effectively doubled.
At the same time, the list of the highest-paid professions has changed somewhat. Some specialties have remained at the top, while others have appeared due to new economic needs and the security situation in the country.
The highest-paid professions in 2026
According to the OLX Robota platform, the top five jobs with the highest median salary in 2026 include:
● real estate broker — UAH 112,500 (a 72% increase compared to January 2022);
● service in the Armed Forces — UAH 70,600;
● facade worker — UAH 65,000 (+86%);
● plasterer — UAH 62,800 (+128%);
● bricklayer — UAH 55,000 (+57%).
Construction professions remain among the highest-paid professions. At the same time, a new factor that influenced the salary structure was the appearance of defense jobs at the top of the list.
For comparison, in January 2022, real estate brokers also received the highest median salary — UAH 65,500. The list of high-paying vacancies at that time included:
● bricklayers and facade workers — about 35,000 UAH;
● jobs abroad, in particular packers — 35,000 UAH;
● long-distance truck drivers — 31,500 UAH.

Which jobs became the most popular among job seekers?
In recent years, the preferences of the candidates themselves have also changed significantly. In January 2026, the jobs that received the most responses were:
● copywriter;
● SMM manager;
● content manager;
● chat operator;
● customer service manager;
● online store manager.
This indicates a noticeable shift in interest toward online work and communication professions. Such vacancies often involve remote work, flexible schedules, or the ability to work from any region.
For comparison, in January 2022, completely different professions received the most responses. Among them were: chat operator, tiler, handyman, promoter, and packer.
Who are employers looking for the most?
Despite the change in job seekers' interests, employer demand remains relatively stable. As before, most vacancies are concentrated in the fields of trade, logistics, and blue-collar professions. In January 2026, employers posted the most ads in the following categories:
● “Other” (manual labor) — 8,948 vacancies;
● salesperson — 8,566 vacancies (4.3% more than in January 2022);
● driver — 7,069 vacancies (+30%);
● service in the Armed Forces — 6,446 vacancies;
● loader — 4,050 vacancies (+276%).
The increase in the number of vacancies for loaders has been one of the most noticeable in recent years. This is due to changes in logistics chains and activity in the field of trade and delivery.
For comparison, in January 2022, employers were also most often looking for:
● salespeople — 8,216 vacancies;
● drivers — 5,442 vacancies;
● employees in the “Career Start” category — 3,215 vacancies;
● cleaning and domestic staff — 2,080 vacancies;
● taxi drivers — 2,054 vacancies.
How has the structure of the labor market changed?
Analysts note that over the past four years, the structure of the Ukrainian labor market has changed somewhat, but the key sectors have remained stable.
On the one hand, construction professions — facade workers and bricklayers — continue to be among the highest-paid professions. On the other hand, service in the Armed Forces has been added to the list of high-paying categories.
At the same time, candidates' interest has shifted significantly towards vacancies with flexible schedules or the possibility of remote work. These are primarily professions in the fields of communications, marketing, and online commerce.
Employers' demand remains more conservative: the majority of vacancies are in retail, transport, and logistics.
