Departure of women abroad from October 1: the final decision of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine

There are no bans on women traveling abroad. Mandatory military registration of women in certain specialties is postponed for a year until October 1, 2023. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Malyar.
"Currently, the draft Law "On Amendments to Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine "On Military Obligation and Military Service" is being finalized in the parliament at the level of a specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada. Its proposals, which, among other things, provide that the military registration of women is exclusively voluntary character, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine previously sent to the Committee.
At the same time, realizing that the law-making process is long, in parallel, the Ministry of Defense, within the limits of its powers, prepared an order that once again postponed the terms of taking women of relevant professions/specialties into military registration for another year - until October 1, 2023. The relevant order was signed yesterday, September 6, by Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov", - Malyar wrote in her Telegram.
She also reminded that the norm on the mandatory registration of women of relevant professions/specialties on the military register is regulated by the law itself. This order does not change the norms of the current legislation, but it will allow the Committee, and then the Parliament as a whole, to finalize and make changes to the legislation to settle this issue.
"We, within the limits of our powers, can only postpone the deadlines. So, for another year - until October 1, 2023, they have been postponed, and during this time the parliamentarians will be able to establish at the legislative level that the military registration of women of the relevant professions/specialties is exclusively voluntary.
Work in the committee of the Verkhovna Rada continues actively. Therefore, no panic and betrayal. There are no restrictions for women.
After the adoption of relevant changes to the legislation on the exclusively voluntary enrollment of women in the military register, there will no longer be a need to repeatedly postpone the deadlines by the orders of the Ministry of Defense", - the message reads.
As the General Staff stated, the experience of deploying all military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations to full wartime staffs shows that today there is no urgent need in the country to increase the number of women on the military register.
