Cruise travel is becoming even more accessible for pet owners. As reported by Euronews, citing the American company Fabled Voyages, the operator is launching a new program called Pets Onboard, which will allow cats and dogs to travel aboard cruise ships.

This decision opens up the possibility of extended trips without having to leave pets at home or find temporary care.

What does the Pets Onboard program entail?

The new initiative allows passengers to stay on the ship with their pets during long voyages—essentially, living on board. Under the program’s terms:

● up to two animals are permitted in each cabin (residence);

● dogs and cats are allowed;

● there are requirements regarding the animal’s size, health, and behavior.

Thus, the company aims to make cruises more flexible for those who are not ready to part with their pets even during long journeys.

What are the conditions for pets on the cruise ship?

The program includes additional facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for pets. Specifically, on the FV Horizon, which accommodates 2,400 passengers, the company plans to set up special areas for walking, provide veterinary care, and implement enhanced sanitation standards.

As explained by Madison Miller, founder and CEO of Fabled Voyages, the company’s goal is to recognize the importance of pets to their owners while ensuring the comfort of all passengers on board.

How much does traveling with pets cost?

Participation in the program entails additional costs for pet owners. Specifically:

● a one-time deposit of $1,000;

● a monthly fee of $130.

These funds will be used to support cleanliness, veterinary care, and the development of infrastructure for animals.

Deposit acceptance begins on March 30.

What routes does the company offer?

Fabled Voyages plans to organize cruises across various regions of the world. Routes include:

● the fjords of Northern Europe and the Baltic;

● the coasts of Western and Southern Europe;

● Mediterranean countries;

● regions of the Middle East;

● East Africa;

● the Indian Ocean.

The launch of the Pets Onboard program signals a shift in the approach to travel. More and more services are adapting to the needs of people for whom pets are part of the family. As the company notes, their goal is not to create a separate “cruise for animals,” but to remove the restrictions that prevent people from traveling longer and more comfortably.
