In 2026, Ukraine will continue to maintain a system of supplementary pension payments, which allows certain categories of citizens to receive significant financial support. The amount of these supplements depends on age, health status, social status, and other factors. In some cases, monthly supplements may exceed 2,500 hryvnias.

Which pensioners will receive additional payments in 2026: amounts and conditions

The maximum supplement of 2,595 hryvnias is received by individuals affected by the Chernobyl disaster who resided in evacuation zones between 1986 and 1993.

This amount corresponds to the subsistence minimum for individuals who have lost their ability to work and is the highest among the provided supplements.

The state also supports pensioners based on their age:

70–74 years old — 300 UAH

75–79 years old — 456 UAH

80 years and older — 570 UAH

However, there is a restriction: the base pension amount must not exceed 10,340 hryvnias; otherwise, the supplement is not paid.

1,038-Hryvnia Supplement for Pensioners Aged 80+: Who Is Eligible

A separate supplement of 1,038 hryvnias is provided for pensioners aged 80 and older. According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, not everyone is eligible for this supplement, but only those who meet several criteria simultaneously.

First and foremost, these are:

people who live alone;

have no able-bodied relatives obligated to support them (regardless of whether these relatives are in Ukraine or abroad);

require constant outside care.

The key condition is confirmation of the need for care. This refers to situations where a person cannot care for themselves due to their health condition.

How to obtain a medical opinion?

To apply for this supplement, you must obtain an opinion from the Medical Advisory Commission (MAC). The procedure is as follows:

1. Consult your family doctor.

2. Assessment of the patient’s health condition.

3. Obtain a referral to the commission (if necessary).

4. Undergo the MCC examination and receive the opinion.

As a rule, a positive decision is made for people with:

significant mobility limitations,

chronic illnesses,

disabilities.

Pensioners who support minor children or non-working relatives may also receive additional funds.

In particular, military pensioners are entitled to approximately 1,290 hryvnias for each dependent.

For citizens with honorary donor status, a monthly supplement of 321 hryvnias is provided for in 2026.

New payments are not currently being issued, but those who have already applied for benefits continue to receive them.

Pensions in 2026: Important News and Changes

In April 2026, Ukraine will recalculate pensions for working retirees. According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, this will affect about 650,000 people—roughly one in four working retirees.

For those who retired later, the next automatic recalculation is scheduled for April 2027.

At the same time, no significant changes are expected in April for most other pensioners—except in cases where a certain age is reached, entitling them to age-based supplements.

Why is it important to update your information with the PFU?

In 2026, it is particularly important to promptly notify the Pension Fund of Ukraine of any changes to your personal information.

This includes:

a change of residence;

updating documents;

a change in status or marital status.

Failure to do so may result in payment delays, temporary suspension of payments, and the need to return overpaid funds.

Additionally, in the event of discrepancies in government registries, the system may require additional verification. As document processing increasingly shifts to electronic formats, the accuracy of data becomes critically important.

Reminder!
Recently, Ukrainian citizens have been able to purchase insurance periods for their future pensions or increase the size of their pensions. Ukrainians living abroad can also do this. Learn more about how to do this and how much you will have to pay.
