If you’re planning a trip in early summer, you might want to consider less obvious destinations – from medieval regions of Eastern Europe to exotic itineraries in South America and Asia.

Transylvania, Romania

Transylvania is not just a region, but a real journey into the past. Here it seems that time has stopped: narrow cobblestone streets, pastel facades of houses and ancient squares create the atmosphere of medieval Europe.
In Brasov, you should see one of the largest Gothic churches in Eastern Europe, in Sibiu - enjoy the Baroque architecture, and Sighisoara impresses with its citadel and ancient clock tower.
A separate experience is visiting the legendary castles Bran Castle and Corvin Castle.
The countryside here looks as if it has not been touched by modernity: horses instead of cars, shepherds on the hills and almost no urbanization. It is also one of the few regions in Europe where you can meet wild bears and wolves in their natural habitat.
Menorca, Spain

Menorca is a more calm and authentic alternative to the popular Balearic Islands. It combines crystal clear sea, wild beaches and cultural heritage, maintaining a balance between nature and civilization.

The island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and you can feel it in every landscape: cliffs, pine forests, secluded coves without crowds.
A special experience is a walk along the Camí de Cavalls trail, which covers the entire island. You can choose a short route for a day or walk part of the legendary 185-kilometer circuit along the coast.
June here is also a gastronomic discovery: stewed lobster (caldereta de langosta), Mahón-Menorca cheese and traditional pastries create a separate reason to fall in love with this island.

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon in June is a city that literally celebrates life. The narrow streets are decorated with garlands, the air smells of fried sardines, and music plays until late at night.
The main event of the month is the Santos Populares festival, which turns the capital into a continuous celebration with concerts, dancing and street food. The celebrations in honor of Saint Anthony are especially vivid. June also opens the season of fresh sardines - an iconic Portuguese dish, which is cooked right on the streets.
And another bonus: the beaches nearby, in particular the Caparica area, are much less crowded during this period than in the height of summer.
