Poland is revising the “800+” program: payments may be automatically extended starting in 2027
Poland plans to revise the “800+” program and introduce automatic renewal of payments. Find out when the new rules will take effect, what will change for recipients, and whether they will need to submit applications every year
In Poland, changes are being prepared for one of the key social programs — “800+” — which covers millions of families. The changes involve simplifying the process for receiving benefits and gradually phasing out the requirement to submit annual applications. This is reported by inpoland.
What will change in the “800+” program?
The main idea behind the reform is to automate the payment calculation process as much as possible and reduce the bureaucratic burden on recipients. If the bill is passed, parents will no longer have to submit an application every year to continue receiving benefits. After the initial application, payments will be issued automatically.
Data from the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) system will be used for this purpose. If family information remains unchanged, payments will continue without any additional action required from the recipient.
In the event of changes — for example, in family composition or other important details — they can be updated in the system.

Who will be eligible for the benefit?
In addition to automation, the program aims to clarify the group of people eligible for payments. Specifically, the benefit will be available not only to parents but also to individuals who have permanent custody of a child based on a court order. This is intended to expand access to support for various categories of families.
When will the new rules take effect?
The bill is scheduled to be considered in the second quarter of 2026. If passed, the changes will take effect on June 1, 2027. Until then, the current procedure will remain in place: to continue receiving payments, parents must submit an application by the established deadlines — specifically, by April 30 for the next payment period.
Why is the system being changed?
The Polish government expects that digitization will reduce bureaucracy for recipients, simplify the administration of benefits, and improve the efficiency of the social system. Essentially, this involves transitioning to a model where the state processes data independently and continues benefits without citizen involvement, provided their circumstances remain unchanged.
