Ukrzaliznytsia has taken an important step towards ensuring the comfort of its youngest passengers by launching the country’s first-ever dedicated children’s carriage. This initiative aims to turn long train journeys into an exciting experience for children and give parents the chance to relax whilst travelling.

Which route does Ukrzaliznytsia’s children’s carriage operate on?

The innovative carriage made its debut as part of train No. 001/002 ‘Yednist’. It connected the east and west of the country, travelling from Kharkiv to Ivano-Frankivsk.

The company’s press office noted huge interest in the innovation from passengers: during its maiden voyage, the children’s carriage was fully booked. Despite the fact that the day of departure proved objectively challenging for Kharkiv, the journey managed to bring genuine joy to young Ukrainians and allowed them to take their minds off the worrying events.

Who created the children’s carriage and how safe is it?

The project was implemented by the national railway operator in close collaboration with the international technology company Visa. During the design and launch of the space for children, the creators’ top priority remained the absolute safety of the children whilst the train was in motion.

Company representatives emphasise their main mission in this project:

“We ensure that the journey is always safe – and adventurous only in the best sense,” note representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia.
