In April 2026, Ukrainians imported nearly 3,900 used passenger cars from the U.S.—the Ford Escape topped the sales charts. Find out which models made the top 5, which fuel type is most common, and the average age of the imported cars
In April 2026, 3,900 used passenger cars imported from the United States were registered in Ukraine. This is 0.3% more than in the same month last year. This was reported by Ukravtoprom.
The average age of the imported cars was 6.5 years — a figure indicating stable demand for relatively new vehicles rather than older “American” cars.

What fuel did Ukrainians choose: gasoline leads, but electric vehicles already account for a quarter of the market
Among all cars from the U.S. registered in April, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for the largest share — 55%. However, the share of alternative options is no less significant:
● electric vehicles — 24%;
● hybrids — 13%;
● diesel cars — 5%;
● cars with LPG systems — 3%.
One in four cars imported from the U.S. is electric. Together with hybrids, this accounts for nearly 37% of all imports, reflecting a clear trend toward the electrification of Ukraine’s vehicle fleet.

Top 5 Most Popular Used Car Models from the U.S. in April 2026
The undisputed leader of the month was the Ford Escape — Ukrainians purchased 423 of these vehicles in April. This model traditionally appeals to buyers with its combination of compactness, practicality, and an affordable price on the used car market.
The top five also included:
● Tesla Model Y — 279 cars;
● Tesla Model 3 — 263 cars;
● Nissan Rogue — 257 cars;
● BMW X5 — 256 cars.
Tesla models took two spots in the top 5 — this confirms that electric cars from the U.S. are not just a statistical figure but a real choice for thousands of buyers. The BMW X5 consistently remains among the leaders as a representative of the premium segment.
We remind you! Importing cars into Ukraine in 2026 has become more complicated and expensive. New taxes, restrictions, and changes for electric vehicles have significantly impacted the market. Read more about current rules, costs, and nuances of customs clearance.
