Affordable Vacations in Ukraine in Summer 2026: Where to Go on a Budget?
Prices for summer vacations in Ukraine in 2026 have risen by 25–40%, and popular resorts are packed. However, in the Carpathians, the Carpathian Foothills, and Transcarpathia, there are still destinations where you can enjoy a comfortable vacation without breaking the bank—with accommodations starting at 700 UAH per night. Learn more about budget-friendly summer vacation spots in Ukraine and current accommodation rates
The summer vacation season is just around the corner, and budget concerns are on the minds of most Ukrainians. The UNIAN editorial team has put together a selection of destinations where you can spend your summer on a budget—from hiking trails in the Carpathians to the thermal springs of Zakarpattia.
How much will accommodation cost, what to do, and how to get there—we’ll cover all that below.
How much will a summer vacation in Ukraine cost in 2026?
The vacation budget in Ukraine this season has risen by 25–40% compared to last year. About half of the total expenses go toward accommodation: prices start at 700–1,500 UAH per night in simple guesthouses and private apartments, and in luxury hotels, they can exceed 12,000 UAH. Among the reasons for the price increase are high demand, general inflation, rising electricity rates, and a sharp increase in gasoline prices.
At the same time, a vacation abroad often costs about the same or even less than at Ukrainian resorts. However, for a significant portion of Ukrainians, traveling outside the country remains impossible due to legal restrictions.
The best tours for a spontaneous trip around Ukraine — are listed here.
Mountain trails in the Carpathians: tranquility instead of crowds
The Carpathians remain the most popular summer destination in Ukraine. However, popular resorts like Bukovel, Yaremche, or Pylypets are overcrowded, and prices there are correspondingly inflated. Less well-known destinations allow you to save money and enjoy more peace and quiet, although the tourist infrastructure may be more modest.
Tatariv: a village between Yaremche and Bukovel
This small village in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast is situated on the banks of the Prut River and surrounded by mountains and forests. You can spend a few days here, combining hiking with relaxation by the water.
You can get there by direct train from Kyiv, though tickets are hard to come by during peak season. An alternative is a minibus or bus from Ivano-Frankivsk. Traveling by car allows you to explore the surrounding area as well.
Accommodation prices: from 1,000 UAH/night for a basic double room at a guesthouse, from 2,500 UAH/night at hotels with pools.

Verkhovyna: Ethnography and Hutsul Culture
One of the highest villages in the Carpathians stretches along the banks of the Chornyi Cheremosh River. In addition to the mountain scenery, you can visit the House-Museum of the History of the Making of the Film “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors,” where director Sergei Parajanov worked, as well as Roman Kumlyk’s Museum of Hutsul Life, Ethnography, and Musical Instruments.

Its distance from the railway protects Verkhovyna from an excessive influx of tourists.
Accommodation prices: from 1,000 UAH/night for a double room, from 3,800 UAH/night for modern cottages.
Skole: the gateway to the Carpathians in Lviv Oblast
The town is just beginning to develop its tourism infrastructure and remains significantly quieter than neighboring Slavsko for now. The main advantage is its immediate proximity to the Skole Beskids National Park. In Skole itself, there are grocery stores and a beautiful palace, around which you can take a stroll.
Direct trains pass through Skole, and it’s easy to get to Slavsko, Lviv, or Mukachevo from here by minibus or electric train.
Accommodation prices: starting at 700 UAH/night in modest guesthouses, and 3,600 UAH/night in modern eco-cabins.

Volovets: a quiet getaway in Zakarpattia
A small town near Pylypets on a railway branch line. The tourist infrastructure here is minimal, but there is everything you need for daily life — shops, markets, and pharmacies.

Volovets is surrounded by mountains and forests, making it ideal for hiking. You can also take day trips from here to the Shipit Waterfall, Lake Synevyr, and other locations. Additional accommodation options are available in the neighboring village of Podobovets.
Accommodation prices: starting at 800 UAH/night for a basic double room in guesthouses closer to the forest.
Health and Wellness: Healing Waters and Spas
The Carpathian region offers a unique summer vacation experience—a combination of mountain hikes and wellness treatments using healing waters.
Skhidnytsia: a young resort with healing springs
This resort village in the Lviv region has been actively developing since the early 2000s and offers healing mineral waters. In addition to the village itself, hiking trails lead to a number of natural landmarks:
- Tustan;
- Yamelnytski Rocks;
- Bukovytsia;
- the Oriv Ridge;
- the “Tsukhiv Dil” tower;
- Rybnyk;
- and the Sopit Waterfall.
In recent years, many new hotels have opened in Skhidnytsia, though there are also options in the budget price range.

Accommodation prices: starting at 1,200 UAH/night for a double room in private villas, and 5,000 UAH/night in comfortable hotels.
Truskavets: a resort town with full infrastructure
This resort town, neighboring Skhidnytsia, is ideal for those seeking a more urban vacation experience. A direct train runs here from Kyiv, though tickets are hard to come by in the summer.
In recent years, Truskavets’ infrastructure has improved significantly: modern cafes and restaurants have opened, a large shopping mall has been built, and the main street, lined with historic villas and museums, is perfect for strolling. The city also features a large, cozy park.
A 20-minute minibus ride takes you to Drohobych—where you can see wooden churches listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the oldest operating saltworks in Ukraine, and numerous historic buildings.
Accommodation prices: starting at 850 UAH/night for a modest double room in private apartments, and 2,500 UAH/night at spa hotels.

Waterfront Getaways: Thermal Springs Instead of the Sea
Seaside vacations in Ukraine this summer remain limited—in fact, only the Odesa region is accessible, and prices there are significantly higher. Thermal pools in the west of the country are becoming an alternative for those who want to spend their vacation by the water.
Berehove: Thermal Pools and Winemaking Traditions
This town in Zakarpattia offers several days of active recreation: thermal pools are available both in Berehove itself and in the neighboring towns of Kosyno and Svalyava. For those traveling by car, there are additional points of interest nearby—the Schönborn Castle, the St. Miklós Fortress, and other landmarks. You can also learn about local winemaking traditions here.
Accommodation prices: starting at 700 UAH/night for budget accommodation for two, and 2,000 UAH/night for comfortable hotels.
Price comparison: from cheapest to most expensive
For your convenience, here is a summary of the minimum accommodation costs in each destination (double room, per night):
- Skole — from 700 UAH;
- Berehove — from 700 UAH;
- Volovets — from 800 UAH;
- Truskavets — from 850 UAH;
- Tatariv — from 1,000 UAH;
