The russians continue to shell critical infrastructure and civilian homes throughout Ukraine. The mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko told how Kyiv will live and work in the event of a long-term lack of electricity supply.

We previously reported that certain retail chains and markets will continue to operate in the city, and public transport will be free.

Operation of ground transport in Kyiv during the blackout

All bus fleets are provided with the necessary fuel supply and have autonomous energy sources. Also, there are heating points for drivers on the territories of bus parks. The city train will run. For this purpose, the railway workers prepared for its movement with a diesel-powered locomotive. The interval between trains will be approximately 30 minutes.

How will the subway work during a power outage?

In conditions of a complete absence of electricity, the movement of subway trains will be suspended - underground stations will work as points of temporary stay and shelter during an air alert. Ground stations will be closed.

The following will be available at the underground stations: Internet connection, electricity for recharging gadgets, drinking water and sanitary facilities.

Entry is free, but you must bring an ID.

The average temperature at the underground stations is 12-14 degrees Celsius. Therefore, it is recommended to wear winter clothes and additionally have warm clothes.

Operation of pumping stations during a blackout

In the event of water supply interruptions, water can be collected in pumping stations connected to generators. You can find out where the pump station closest to your home is located, as well as the status of its connection to electricity, on the map of pump stations by following the link.

In addition, drinking water and water for other needs will be delivered to the heating points if necessary. The city has worked with communal services to transport water tankers. It will also be possible to buy water in stores that will be open.

How will shopping malls, retail chains and markets work?

Without electricity in Kyiv, individual retail chains, shopping centers and markets, as well as agricultural fairs, will continue to operate. You can buy food, water, household and industrial goods from them. In addition, household service establishments, addresses of food establishments, addresses of service stations and auto goods, addresses of private medical institutions will be open.

Pay attention! Work schedules may be reduced in the absence of power supply.

Operation of heating points

The nearest heating point can be found on the map. Telephone numbers, the names of the persons responsible for them, and the capacity of the institution are also indicated here. In addition, data on whether there are mother and child rooms, facilities for persons with disabilities and facilities for meals.

How to download a map to a smartphone?

To navigate in the city without communication and mobile internet, download a map in the Google Maps application to your smartphone. For this, you need:

• Enter the application.

• Click on your profile icon and select "Offline Maps".

• Click on the inscription "Choose your own card".

• Select the required section and press "Download".

From now on, all map elements, including streets and buildings, are available offline.

How will mobile communication work?

Mobile communication, in the absence of power supply, will work in a limited mode: only voice communication. Mobile internet (LTE, 3G) will work in the metro, and WI-FI will also be available at some stations. The Internet will also work in the fiber optic network.

Information via Kyiv Digital will work if the user has access to the Internet.

How will pharmacies work?

Here is a list of addresses of pharmacies of KP "Pharmatsia", which are equipped with backup power sources and will work in the event of a complete lack of power supply, as well as pharmacies of the private network.

Work of veterinary clinics during the blackout

Veterinary clinics will also provide qualified assistance to pets in the absence of electricity. In addition, the Animal Registration and Registration Service will continue to work.
