Ukrainians who have taken refuge in Poland are eligible to receive payments from the German Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKN), which has recently resumed providing financial assistance.

Please note! You can receive financial support from this fund only if you have not yet received financial assistance from other charitable organizations. In particular, such as DKH, IFRC, UNHCR and any other.

Given the financial constraints, the DKH assistance program is aimed at reaching the most needy people. Registration in the DKH program does not guarantee that you will receive assistance.

Who can receive funds from Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe?

The DKH assistance program is intended for people who meet the following criteria:

- The applicant and his/her family reside in Poland and left Ukraine after February 24, 2022 (inclusive). To participate in the program, you do not need to be a citizen of Ukraine if you have proof of legal residence in this country before the specified date.

- The applicant and/or his/her family do not receive (have not received) any other financial assistance from the UN or any other non-governmental organization. This restriction does not apply to support from Polish social services.

- None of the family members, including the applicant, are employed in Poland and do not have access to any other types of income (e.g. entrepreneurial activity).

In addition, persons meeting the above conditions must also meet at least one of the following criteria. The applicant must be:

- A single parent.

- A person over 65 years old with no other adult family members in Poland.

- Pregnant.

- A parent of two or more children.

- Has a family member with special needs.

- Has a family member with a chronic/serious illness.

Please note! In addition to the first two conditions, the rest apply to family members of a person who meets the criteria.

What is the amount of payments?

Those who are selected to participate in the Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe will receive 710 PLN for the head of the family and 610 PLN for each additional family member.

The financial assistance will be paid for three months.

What documents are required to receive financial assistance?

- Passport, identity card or other document proving the identity of the applicant and his/her family members.

- Any document confirming the date of entry into Poland.

- In case of special needs and/or diseases, this fact must be confirmed.

Please note! All eligible family members, including children, must come to the DKH Registration Center in person.

In which cities can I receive financial assistance from the DKH?

The centers for checking applications for financial assistance from the Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe will be open from March 23, 2023. No appointments will be made before this date.

The centers will be located in the following Polish cities:

 Wroclaw;

 Kalisz;

 Koszalin;

 Lublin;

 Suwałki;

 Pisz;

 Czeszyn;

 Działdowo;

 Przeglądowo;

 Nidzica;

 Svidnica;

 Walbrzych;

 Węgrów.

Even if you do not live in the above cities, but want to receive financial assistance, you can choose the point closest to you.

You can make an appointment for an interview to receive assistance online on the website

If you have a disability or health condition that prevents you from coming to the Center, you should call 800 000 232.

Important! During the meeting, you will need to provide proof that you have arrived in Poland from Ukraine since February 24, 2022. This should be an identity document with a border crossing stamp. Each family member must be present in person during the visit to the Center.

As a reminder, most of the refugees from Ukraine currently residing in Poland are forced to rent housing. The country's real estate market offers a wide range of accommodation options for foreigners. Read here what you should pay special attention to when renting an apartment or house.
