The UK has passed a law extending the validity of Ukrainian driving licenses. Ukrainian refugees will be able to drive a car without replacing their license for three years. The new document will come into force on June 7, 2023.

The authorities of Great Britain are planning to prolong the permission for drivers with Ukrainian license in the country. 

Now the Department for Transport of Britain is conducting a survey on its website to understand how much the population supports this decision. 

According to the proposal, refugees may be allowed to travel in Britain with a Ukrainian license for up to 3 years. Such changes should allow the citizens of Ukraine to integrate better, as it is important to have access to transport to solve any issues.

It is worth noting that in the case of a positive decision, Ukrainians will not need to exchange their license or take an additional test to continue driving a car with a manual transmission.

However, after three years (validity period of extended visa) the decision will no longer be valid, Ukrainians will need to take a driving test.

Important: According to the British rules, drivers with Ukrainian license cannot be penalized for traffic rules violation. Such punishment system works only for British license.

- fine for not having a policy from 1000 euros; 

- deportation; 

- prohibition of entry into the country; 

- seizure or confiscation of your vehicle, etc.

How many Ukrainian refugees are in Britain

As we know, at the beginning of 2023 there were about 160 thousand Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Great Britain. 

Also in the country still work several sponsorship programs: the Ukrainian family program, the "Homes for Ukraine" program and the visa extension program for Ukrainians.
