The beginning of the blockade of truck traffic near the three largest road checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border (Korczowa-Krakowiec, Hrebenne-Rava Ruska, Dorohusk-Yahodyn) was postponed from November 3 to November 6.

This was announced by Tomasz Borkowski, co-chair of the blockade and organizer of the protest at the Korchova-Krakivets checkpoint, in a comment to an Ukrinform correspondent.

We have previously told you more about the current rules for entering Ukraine and customs restrictions.

The blockade will begin at 12:00 (13:00 Kyiv time) on November 6 and will start simultaneously in three different places near the border with Ukraine. According to him, Polish carriers have registered this protest with local authorities, and it will last until January 3, 2024.

The organizers of the strike said that during the blockade, trucks will not be allowed, but humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine will be allowed to pass through. The main goal of the blockade is to create a "level playing field" for Polish carriers compared to their Ukrainian counterparts.

Borkowski said that the organizers have sent their demands to the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure. One of the main demands is to restore the permit system for Ukrainian carriers on the border with Poland. They also demand the exclusion of Polish trucks from the E-queue for empty vehicles returning from Ukraine to Poland.

"Now, unfortunately, our drivers in empty trucks are waiting for 10-12 days to leave Ukraine," Borkowski said.

He added that Ukrainian drivers, for example, can wait for this time at home, while Polish drivers are forced to stand at the border.

Borkowski also expressed a desire for the Polish side to stop issuing licenses to transport companies with non-EU capital.

"We wish we had not organized this blockade at all. If our demands are met, we will not protest. However, as of today, it is not clear that anyone wants to talk to us," said Borkowski.

In a comment to Ukrinform, Piotr Zakielazh, a spokesman for the Bieszczady Department of the Polish Border Guard Service, confirmed that the strike of Polish carriers is scheduled to begin on November 6. Polish border guards have no influence on the course of the protest, as it will take place outside the border crossing.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland has appealed to the Polish authorities to avoid blocking the common border, as this could harm the interests of both countries and trade relations between them. The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure also took the initiative and asked the relevant organizations to hold a meeting with all parties involved in the capacity of the borders of Ukraine and Poland.

Please note! To quickly cross the border of Ukraine on your own, it is recommended to check the queues in advance and plan a route through the least busy checkpoint. This applies to both directions, both entering and leaving Ukraine. For more information on how to check the congestion at the checkpoints, please follow the link. We previously wrote about what documents are required for a car to travel abroad here.

If you are planning to leave Ukraine by car, you should take care of obtaining a Green Card policy in advance, because without it, your car will not be allowed to cross the border. You can buy car insurance quickly and profitably on the Visit Ukraine website.

Earlier, we wrote that citizens can no longer present e-documents to border guards when entering or leaving Ukraine. Read our article to find out what the new restrictions are and what documents from Diia are no longer accepted at the border.
