This year, Europe is preparing to launch a number of exciting new trains that promise to revolutionize rail transport in the region. Find out more about which trains will be running
In recent years, Europe has been actively promoting a shift from airplanes to trains. Some countries, such as France and Spain, are canceling domestic flights for short distances, while others are introducing new comfortable night trains.
However, price remains a problem, as airfares are much lower than train tickets.
The Travel Off Path publication has published a list of the most anticipated new trains to be launched in 2024.
As a reminder, you can buy train, bus, or plane tickets to Ukraine and between cities around the world, as well as view timetables and compare prices through Visit Ukraine's convenient booking service. The website has a bonus points system that allows you to travel much cheaper.
The most anticipated trains in Europe to be launched this year
According to the publication, the seven most anticipated new trains scheduled for launch in 2024 are as follows:
1. Brussels (Belgium) - Prague (Czech Republic). Starting March 25, 2024, European Sleeper will extend the railway route connecting Brussels with Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Berlin (Germany). The travel time on the sleeper train from Brussels to Prague will be about 15 hours, with three trips per week and stops in different cities.
2. Paris (France) - Barcelona (Spain). The fast route, operated by the Italian company FS Italiane, will take passengers from Paris to Barcelona in less than 7 hours. It will also connect Paris with Madrid by high-speed trains that already serve this route from Barcelona.

3. Brussels (Belgium) - Amsterdam (Netherlands). Although there are already trains between Brussels and Amsterdam, in December 2024, Dutch NS and Belgian SNCB will launch new high-speed routes between the cities, reducing travel time from 3 hours to 2. The number of flights on this route will double.
4. Berlin (Germany) - Brussels (Belgium). The Austrian company OBB will launch Nightjet trains on this route with several stops throughout Germany, including Halle, Erfurt, Cologne, and Aachen. Flights will be available three times a week.
5. Paris (France) - Bourges St. Maurice (France). The route, operated by Ouigo, will connect the French capital with the Les Arcs ski region from December 2024, reachable in a short time.
6. Rome (Italy) - Cortina D'Ampezzo (Italy). FS Italiane's night express between Rome and the Cortina D'Ampezzo ski resort will be available from December 2024. The journey by sleeper train will take 10 hours.
7. Liege (Belgium) - Maastricht (Netherlands). This fascinating route will connect Belgium with Germany and the Netherlands, making stops in the German city of Aachen.
