Ukrzaliznytsia will change the rules for the transportation of animals on trains: details
After the scandalous story of a serviceman who was traveling in the vestibule because of his service dog, UZ decided to change the rules for transporting pets on trains. Read more about the update
"Ukrzaliznytsia", together with the humanist animal and environmental rescue movement UAnimals, has announced an update to the rules for the transportation of pets on trains. This was announced on the UAnimals Facebook page.
We will tell you what changes to expect and what they are related to in the article below.
Why will the rules for the transportation of animals on trains be updated?
The reason for the changes was the incident with National Guard member Valerii, who was forced to spend several hours in the vestibule because of a large service dog. This incident occurred when the soldier was traveling from Kyiv to Chernihiv in Intercity, where he was not allowed to board the seat he had purchased because he was accompanied by a Labrador.
Against the backdrop of this event, Ukrzaliznytsia reminded of the current restrictions on the transportation of animals over 45 cm at the withers in Intercity, explaining it by the lack of space and potential discomfort for animals.
The National Guard later clarified that the serviceman chose to stay in the vestibule, not wanting to break the rules, and because of the lack of time to wait for a compartment car that would allow the transportation of a Labrador.
UZ will change the rules for the transportation of animals by rail: details
UAnimals noted that their discussion with Ukrzaliznytsia led to a decision to reform the rules of transportation to make them more open to passengers with pets.
As part of the changes, a social campaign is also planned to increase tolerance among passengers without animals to those traveling with them.
