Issuance of a passport is available for children from birth, but the validity period of such a document differs. Find out how much a passport for a child will cost in 2024, what are the terms of issuance and what is the procedure for submitting documents
A foreign passport is issued to Ukrainians over the age of 16 for a period of 10 years. Children from birth to 16 years of age can only get this document for 4 years. This was reminded by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The procedure for issuing a child's passport in 2024, how much it costs, and what documents are required are described below.
Where to apply for a child's passport?
You can apply for a child's international passport at:
➤ territorial bodies and subdivisions of the State Migration Service;
➤ separate subdivisions of the state enterprise “Document”
➤ at the Administrative Services Centers.
Documents required to obtain a passport for a child
The list of required documents may vary depending on the child's age and certain other circumstances. For example, to obtain a passport for a child, you must provide:
1. A document confirming the child's identity, such a document may be
— birth certificate (if available);
— an extract from the State Register of Civil Status Acts of Citizens on state registration of birth (if available);
— a document confirming the fact of birth issued by a competent authority of a foreign state (in cases where a passport is issued for a child under the age of 14).
2. A 10x15 cm photo (70% of the face must be visible, with clear contours, white background, and no foreign objects or defects).
Important: a photo is required for children under the age of 12, if they will not be present when submitting documents.
3. ID card (required for children over the age of 14).
4. Receipt of payment for services.
If the child's parents or one of the parents were foreigners or stateless persons at the time of birth, an additional certificate of registration as a citizen of Ukraine must be submitted (in case of issuing a passport using the Unified State Demographic Register for the first time).

3. When submitting documents, one of the parents, adoptive parents or guardians must have a passport of a citizen of Ukraine.
How much does a passport for a child cost and what are the terms of issuance?

Who can get a ready-made passport for a child?
According to the current rules, the legal representative of the child who submitted the documents or another person on the basis of a power of attorney (duly executed) can collect the passport. Instead, a child can receive his or her passport on his or her own only after reaching the age of 16.
