Where in Ukraine can you relax by the water and what beaches will be officially opened?

Due to the ongoing war, Ukrainians cannot visit some beaches and areas near water bodies. However, some beaches this summer will still be officially open for those who wish to visit. Find out in which city and where you can go to swim in cool water
Ukraine is considered to be a country with diverse natural landscapes, among which you can find magnificent water areas. In the summer, many Ukrainians and tourists go to water bodies to enjoy fresh air, swim, and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. We'll tell you where to enjoy the cool waters and where to go.
Before the outbreak of full-scale war, Ukraine had more than 350 beaches by rivers and lakes and about 190 on the Black and Azov Seas. However, some of them are now under occupation, so you cannot visit them. Some water bodies are also off-limits to visitors because they are in the danger zone.
According to the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, 168 beaches in 15 regions are currently accessible and officially permitted for citizens.
We would like to note that beaches will not be officially opened in Kyiv and Kyiv, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
In which cities and regions can you relax on the beach?
Poltava region
This summer, the region is becoming one of the leaders in terms of the number of places available for swimming and recreation - there are 33 of them. There will be 10 beaches in Kremenchuk: six on the Dnipro River, three on the Sukhyi Kahamlyk River and one on Silikatne Lake. In Poltava, six recreational and swimming areas will open on the Vorskla River, including one near the bridge.
Other settlements will also have beaches: two each in Lubny, Globyno, Horishni Plavni and Novi Sanzhary. Four beaches will be opened for visitors in Myrhorod. In addition, water bodies in the villages of Svetlogorskoye, Biliki, Kobylyaki and Chutovo will also be available to holidaymakers.
Most beaches have the necessary infrastructure and lifeguards to ensure the safety of holidaymakers.
Khmelnytskyi region
This year, 21 beaches will be opened in Khmelnytsky region, each equipped with all the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable and safe holiday. There will be eight beaches on the Dniester River: two in the villages of Stara Ushytsia and Rudkivtsi, and one in the villages of Kolodiivka, Sokil, Velyka Sloboda and Ustia.
One beach will be opened in Khmelnytskyi on the left bank of the Pivdennyi Buh River. Beaches will also be opened in other towns and villages of the region: one in Netishyn, Slavuta, Polonne, Iziaslav, Volochysk, Horodok, Derazhnya, Krasyliv and Starokonstantinov, as well as in the villages of Letychiv and Pravdovtsy (at the Phoenix recreation centre). Beaches are planned to be opened in the village of Stara Sinyava and the villages of Novostavtsi, Arkadiivka and Kremenchuk.
Lviv region
This year, 20 beaches will officially open in Lviv region. The largest number, 12 beaches, are located in Lviv district, most of which are on the territory of hotel complexes and recreation centres. In Stryi district, 6 beaches are ready to receive visitors, and in Yavoriv and Zolochiv districts, one beach each.
Volyn region
The beach season in Volyn region started on 1 June. This year, 19 beaches will be open for recreation by the water. Six of them are located on Lake Svityaz, and three beaches are located on Lake Velymche in the village of Solovychi. In Lutsk, two beaches will be opened on the Styr River near the Teremniv Reservoir.
Other beaches will operate in the following locations: in Berestechko on the banks of the Styr River, in Novovolynsk near the local lake, in the village of Lyubeshiv on the Stokhid River, in the village of Hayivka on Lake Pisochne, in the city of Kovel on the Turia River, in the village of Turiysk on Lake Turiyske, in the village of Lukiv on the lake located on the territory of the Lukivska community. There will also be a beach at the recreation centre on the shores of Lake Dobre.
According to the Volyn Regional Military Administration, all beaches are equipped with the necessary infrastructure for comfortable and safe recreation.

Sumy region
Nine beaches with infrastructure will operate in Sumy region. In the regional centre, two beaches will welcome visitors: one on the banks of the Psyol River and the other on Lake Chekha.
In other settlements, the beaches are located as follows:
- In Romny, on the territory of the former boat station.
- In Shostka on Lake Halynkivske.
- In the village of Buimerivka on the territory of a pine spa resort.
- In the villages of Pustoviytivka and Moskalivka (on the site of a former camp).
In addition, beaches have been arranged on the Vorskla River in the villages of Chernechchyna and Klymentove. According to the Military Administration, all beaches, except for Lake Halynkivske, have the necessary infrastructure for safe recreation.
Ivano-Frankivsk region
There will be four beaches in the region equipped with the necessary infrastructure. In the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, on the city lake; in Halych, the Halych City Beach on the left bank of the Dniester River; in Kalush, on the lake in the city's Ivan Franko Park of Culture and Recreation; and in the village of Polianytsia, near the Bukovel resort.
According to the authorities, this year, swimming is prohibited in public recreation areas - only boat and catamaran rentals will be allowed. The only exception is the lake in the Bukovel tourist complex, where the swimming season has already been opened.

Ternopil region
This year, three beaches will open in the Ternopil region. Two beaches will open in Ternopil for visiting and swimming: "Dalniy Beach and Tsyhanka. Another beach, called Sunny Beach, will be available in the village of Zaliztsi. All these beaches have the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable stay.
Chernivtsi region
Chernivtsi region, one of the safest regions in the country, will open four beaches. One beach will be opened in the city of Chernivtsi, and one beach will be opened in the villages of Velykyi Kuchuriv and Magala, as well as in the village of Boyany. All these locations are equipped with the necessary infrastructure for comfortable recreation.
Cherkasy region
Three beaches will be open in Cherkasy region this summer and 11 recreation areas near water bodies will be opened. There are three municipal beaches in Cherkasy: "Sosnovsky-1, Kazbetsky and Mytnitsky. Smila has three recreation areas: two on the Tyasmyn River and one on the Sriblianka River. There are two water locations in the village of Chervona Sloboda, and one location each in the villages of Budyshche, Lozovok, Savkivka, Krutki, Melnyky and Vatutino.
Odesa region
This year, the authorities of Odesa region plan to open 20 beaches, most of which will be located in Odesa and one in Izmail district. In addition, the village of Prymorske will be allowed to relax in the lagoon, and a canal route will be opened in the town of Vilkovo. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Vilkovo has become a closed area for tourists due to its proximity to the border with Romania and military restrictions.
Zhytomyr region
This summer, three beaches have been opened in the Zhytomyr region, equipped with all the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable holiday. Two beaches are located in Zhytomyr on the Teteriv River and one in Zvyagel.
Kirovograd region
This summer, Kirovograd Region will have five public recreation areas near water bodies: four in Golovanivskyi district and one in Kropyvnytskyi district.
Rivne region
This year, nine beaches will operate in the Rivne region: four in the village of Demydivka, three in the city of Zdolbuniv, and one in the villages of Mlynivka and Horodotske.
Mykolaiv region
The beach season in Mykolaiv region started on 15 May. Currently, there are three beaches in the region: one each in the cities of Pervomaisk and Yuzhnoukrainsk, and one near the village of Pelagiivka in the Pelagiivka recreation camp. All beaches are equipped with the necessary infrastructure.
Kharkiv region
There is one official beach in the Kharkiv region - Roshcha, located on the territory of the Roshcha Clinical Sanatorium.
