Due to the war and the danger of russian shelling, tourist destinations in Mykolaiv region are suffering significant damage. In particular, swimming in the Black Sea is currently impossible. Therefore, the restrictions introduced last year will remain in effect in 2024. The entire sea coast of Mykolaiv region - from Koblevo to Ochakiv Cape - will be unsuitable for summer vacation. This was announced by Roman Mamchur, Head of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, in a commentary for Suspilne.

Accessible rivers, estuaries and beaches in Mykolaiv region

Despite the restrictions on the sea coast, vacationers will be able to swim in estuaries and rivers that have not been damaged by the fighting and the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam. Earlier, Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, announced the opening of the Tiligulsky Landscape Park for vacationers. Roman Mamchur confirmed this information, saying that locals and tourists will be able to relax in the Tyligulskyi Landscape Park, within the Koblevo recreation area, on the Myhiyivskyi Rapids, in the Aktivskyi Canyon, Trykratskyi Forest, and on inland water bodies.

In addition, the authorities announced the opening of several beaches within the region:

– Pervomaisk: In the city, you will be able to relax on the city beach "Rainbow". The water body has already been inspected by the State Emergency Service, and improvement work is underway. The city council has not yet announced the date of the beach's opening.

– Yuzhnoukrainsk: According to local authorities, swimming at the city beach will be possible from May 25. The beach was inspected and cleaned on May 17, and buoys were installed on the beach.

Impact of the war on tourism in Mykolaiv region

The inaccessibility of the sea and proximity to the frontline have significantly affected the attendance of Mykolaiv region. In 2021, the region was visited by 2.3 million tourists, and in 2023 - only 120 thousand. This is a significant decrease in the number of vacationers, which has negatively affected the local tourism business.

At the same time, Vitaliy Kim emphasizes that recreation on the Black Sea is currently impossible due to the danger of shelling from MLRS and artillery. And unfortunately, it is impossible to organize the work of beaches, as, for example, in Odesa (where only rockets reach), in Mykolaiv region.

"We can only dream of a season like Arcadia's," Kim said during the telethon and added that the authorities will "do everything possible to support the relevant businesses in the region, but without putting people in danger."

Remember! When planning a summer vacation in the south of Ukraine, it is important to follow all safety rules and follow official notices regarding the safety of visiting certain recreation areas.

We remind you! At a joint meeting, the Mayor of Odesa and the Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration discussed with business representatives the issues of their support and the recreational season in the coastal zone. Read what changes are planned to be introduced and whether there will be a holiday season in Odesa this year in this article.
