Where Ukrainian students most often enrol in 2024: the most popular universities are named
Ukraine has already compiled the top five most popular universities that received the most applications from applicants. Find out which universities are in the top 5
Against the backdrop of an abnormal number of applicants in Ukraine, we have revealed which universities students most often apply to. Universities in Kyiv and Lviv are among the leaders.
Yulia Hryshyna, Head of the Subcommittee on Higher Education of the Verkhovna Rada Committee, told during a telethon which universities received the most applications from applicants.
The most popular universities in Ukraine in 2024
- Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
- Lviv Polytechnic National University;
- Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute;
- State Institute of Trade and Economics.
It is worth noting that the top 5 most popular universities have remained virtually unchanged compared to last year. In fact, the universities have swapped places. For example, last year Lviv Polytechnic was in the lead.
This year, Kyiv ranked first among the record-breaking cities in terms of the number of applications submitted by applicants. Lviv was second, and Kharkiv was third.

Which universities have lost their popularity?
If we compare the data for last year and this year, the National Aviation University has undergone significant changes: while last year it was among the top five, it now ranks ninth.
It is worth noting that this year the number of Ukrainian applicants for bachelor's degrees has decreased to 201,000, which is a third less than last year, when there were 296,000. However, Ukraine has also seen a significant number of foreigners wishing to study at Ukrainian universities.
At the same time, the number of those wishing to enrol for postgraduate studies has increased in Ukraine.
By the way, we wrote earlier that some Ukrainian students will be able to receive grants to pay for university education. Details of the new pilot project can be found here.
