Poland intends to revise the penalties for traffic offenders. Some of them are going to be strengthened to a serious level of responsibility. With reference to polskieradio24, we tell you what innovations may be introduced for drivers in this country.

Polish traffic rules: what rules may be changed?

The Polish government is planning to toughen the penalties for drivers who cause road accidents. Particular attention will be paid to those who drive under the influence of alcohol. Stricter measures will also be applied to participants in illegal races, drivers exceeding the speed limit by twice, and those driving without a driver's licence. These violations will be treated as criminal offences.

Poland also wants to revise the level of punishment for uninsured cars, up to and including confiscation of vehicles. This model may be similar to the British one, where a car can be confiscated if it has not been insured for a long time.

The Polish government notes that the new rules should change the provisions of the Criminal Code, which should be in line with the law on compulsory insurance and the Civil Code.

Why do they want to tighten the rules?

As explained by the Polish Senate, the rules need to be tightened to combat road traffic offenders more effectively and prevent tragedies.

Recently, a tragic accident occurred in Poland when a Volkswagen crashed at high speed into the back of a Ford car carrying a family. The father of the family was killed, his wife and children were injured. The driver was later detained in Germany on a European arrest warrant. In Poland, he faces 12 years behind bars. After this incident, the government started talking about revising the penalties for violations.

We would like to remind you that foreigners planning to travel to another country by their own car should carefully prepare their documents for travelling abroad. The list of mandatory documents includes a Green Card policy, which will help cover losses in the event of an accident. On our website, you can quickly and easily apply for a car insurance policy.

What car insurance can be useful for travelling?

Among the compulsory insurances, it is necessary to highlight car insurance for travelling abroad.

Drivers can also benefit from insurance covering military risks on the territory of Ukraine. This policy can be taken out by both Ukrainian citizens and foreigners.

Do not forget about motor third party motor TPL insurance, which is mandatory for all cars in Ukraine. This policy is taken out when you buy a vehicle and is renewed upon expiry. If a car is stopped by the police without CTPCI, the driver will face a hefty fine.

We remind you! You need to prepare for every trip by your own transport in advance, especially if it is a trip to another country.
