Autumn in Ukraine is a time when nature reveals its brightest color palette, turning familiar places into real landscapes, as if from a painting. We have prepared for you a selection of unique autumn locations where autumn reveals all its beauty and becomes the perfect backdrop for fresh, like autumn air, tourist experiences.

Tunnel of Love, Rivne region. Perhaps the best place for lovers

The so-called tunnel of love is a unique place at any time of the year, which many people have seen in photographs, advertisements, etc. and thought it was a computer-generated image. Located in the Rivne region, not far from Klevan, this tunnel of trees looks too romantic and hides a special atmosphere. It is so popular with lovers.

The green arch and the two-rail track symbolize the path for two destinies. And in the fall, when the trees of the tunnel are covered with colorful shades, the tunnel of love becomes even more fabulous. Photos of this location in autumn are full of special charm and magic. According to the locals, visiting the Tunnel of Love is a good omen. And to visit this location in the fall is to see the most romantic location in Ukraine with your own eyes.

Aktovsky Canyon, Mykolaiv region. The Ukrainian Grand Canyon is at your service!

The Aktovsky Canyon is the Ukrainian version of the Little Grand Canyon. Granite cliffs rise to a height of up to 50 meters right in the middle of the steppe with a river, and create impressive landscapes that look especially impressive from a distance. Autumn gives the canyon a special contrast between golden trees and harsh rocks, which attracts photographers.

The location is part of the Buzky Gard National Nature Park. Usually, this canyon is recommended as a cool place for extreme sports: rock climbing, mountaineering, water sports, etc. But in fact, Aktovsky Canyon is also ideal for a measured but unique outdoor recreation. Tourists love to camp here and enjoy the spectacular Ukrainian nature.

Earlier, we wrote about 6 natural wonders of Ukraine that will impress every tourist with their uniqueness

Tustan Fortress, Lviv region. The rock culture of Ukraine

An ancient fortress carved into the rocks, which served as a defense structure back in the days of Kievan Rus. It is a whole complex of rocks and an area with archaeological finds that date back to ancient times to the Middle Ages. Almost every object in the Tustan Fortress is a natural and archeological monument, as history, ancient culture, and incredible landscapes intertwine here, which become even more spectacular in the fall.

Located near the village of Urych in the Lviv Carpathians, Tustan Fortress is part of the historical and cultural reserve of the same name. Today, this location is especially attractive to young people and researchers who are happy to take pictures of rock petroglyphs. Hiking and various observation decks are available for outdoor enthusiasts.

Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park, Khmelnytskyi region. Meaningful nature walks

One of the largest national nature parks in Ukraine, which is included in the list of 7 natural wonders of Ukraine, turns into a real natural museum in the fall. The autumn colors of the Tovtry, also called the “Ukrainian Carpathians,” seem to give this place wisdom and make walks here full of meaning.

The nature park is located in the Khmelnytskyi region, not far from Kamianets-Podilskyi. In addition to many natural features, there are also unique man-made objects on its territory that make this location attractive for recreational and educational tourism. A trip to Podilski Tovtry in the fall promises to be especially eventful: the richness of flora, picturesque rocks, rivers and boundless natural harmony will be experienced by every tourist who visits this place.

Dead Lake, Lviv region. Hydrogen sulfide tourism in the Carpathians

Israel has the Dead Sea, and Ukraine has the Dead Lake, located in the Carpathians. The unique natural object near the village of Zhuravlyno in the Carpathians is known for its unusual water saturated with hydrogen sulfide, which gives the body of water a specific smell and feel when you are near it. In the fall, this place becomes especially picturesque thanks to the colored forests that surround the lake on all sides. Thanks to the landscape wildlife, this location attracts lovers of quiet recreation and photographers.

The water of this lake does not contain any life, but it has healing properties, which makes it a popular destination for health tourism in Ukraine. But while not every tourist will like the specific smell of the lake in summer, the smell becomes less concentrated in the fresh autumn air.

Optimistic Cave, Ternopil region. The largest cave in Ukraine and one of the largest in the world!

Near the village of Korolivka in the Ternopil region, there is the Optimistic Cave, the longest gypsum cave in the world and the second longest karst cave in the world! It attracts tourists and professional cavers with its huge labyrinth of passages and halls. In the fall, the surrounding nature changes and gives tourists a special mood. Moreover, when the outside weather can be unstable, the cave remains comfortable for exploration.

Visitors to the cave can enjoy the autumn nature while they are getting to this location. People also come here for extreme tourism, as well as to explore the underground beauty of Ukraine, which is as inviolable as Ukraine itself at any time of the year. At the same time, a tour of the Optimistic Cave is only possible with experienced instructors, as it is easy to get lost here. Daredevils who dare to travel through the cave will discover its inner lakes, crystal walls and other mysteries.

Tarakaniv Fort, Rivne region. Mysticism. Autumn. Casemates.

The Tarakaniv Fort (New Dubno Fortress) is an architectural and historical gem hidden in dense forests near the city of Dubno, on the outskirts of the village of Tarakaniv, in the Rivne region. Earlier, in the nineteenth century, it was a military structure that now looks like a ruin, but this is what gives it its special charm. Autumn fogs and fallen leaves give the fort a mystical atmosphere that attracts adventurers and unusual photo shoots.

Under the burden of time and physical factors, Tarakaniv Fort is gradually fading away, but it is autumn that gives this location an atmosphere of eternity. The history of the fort is not without mysticism: it is said that ghosts wander here at night, clocks go crazy, and the sounds of a marching band can be heard. However, it is the contrast of such fatal autumn beauty and hidden danger that attracts the attention of stalker tourists to the fort. Trees and wild grapes sprout through the walls of the fort, which blooms in autumn, the masonry is constantly crumbling, scaring tourists, and eternal silence reigns in the dark and secret damp casemates of the fort.

Lake Shelekhivske, Sumy region. Lost solitude

Another lake in our selection that cannot be missed, if only because it is one of the deepest and oldest lakes in Ukraine, surrounded by a majestic, ancient and impenetrable forest. And every tourist knows what a forest is like in autumn... Autumn adds bright colors to the local landscapes and their fantastic reflection in the crystal clear water of the lake.

Lake Shelekhivske is located behind the village of Mezhyrich in the Lebedynskyi district of Sumy region. The location is not very popular among tourists, as it is very difficult to get there, but the road to the lake in the fall is a separate portion of unforgettable tourist experiences. However, those tourists who know about this amazing place love it for its seclusion, peace and quiet, which cannot be found in cities.

Mount Parashka, Lviv region. Panoramic trekking in the autumn Carpathians

There are interesting places for tourism in the Carpathians not only in the Zakarpattia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, but also a few hours' drive from Lviv. Mount Parashka, located in the Skole Beskydy, is the highest point in the region and offers incredible panoramic views.

In the fall, the green needles of spruce and fir trees mix with yellow and red birches, beeches and oaks to make the forest around the mountain colorful. Then the climb to the top turns into a fabulous journey through the autumn landscapes, which are impossible to ignore. At the same time, the climb to Mount Parashka is not difficult and takes only about 4 hours, which makes this place accessible to most tourists.

Mamayeva Sloboda, Kyiv. The magic of autumn mood in the capital

We finish our selection of unusual autumn locations in Ukraine with Mamayeva Sloboda, a real fairy tale in the center of Kyiv, where nature and architecture merge in symbiosis and give Kyiv residents and guests a place unlike any other city location.

Located in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, Mamayeva Sloboda is an ethnographic complex that allows you to plunge into the authentic atmosphere of a Ukrainian Cossack village of the XVII-XVIII centuries. In autumn, this place is even more atmospheric due to the bright color palette, as the golden-purple leaves of the trees look so harmonious against the background of recreated old mud huts, windmills and a church. Walking along the picturesque alleys of the Mamayeva Sloboda in the midst of golden autumn creates a real mood magic. In addition, in the fall, Mamayeva Sloboda often hosts traditional harvest festivals, which are held with the recreation of ancient customs, rituals, songs and dances.

In fact, Ukraine is full of unusual places for tourism, which have yet to be discovered by both Ukrainians and foreign visitors. And our selection is only a small part of Ukraine's tourism potential, which is revealed to travelers every day. Don't miss the opportunity to make this fall special with Visit UkraineBook a tour and go on a trip that will definitely leave memories as fresh as the autumn air!
