Why do I need a technical inspection for traveling to Moldova?

Technical inspection is a mandatory procedure for those who plan to cross the border with Moldova. It allows you to:

- make sure that the car is in good technical condition

- comply with environmental standards;

- avoid refusal to cross the border.

Without a diagnostic card or international certificate, your vehicle may not be allowed to travel.

What is checked during the technical inspection?

Technical inspection includes checking

Brake system - serviceability of the main and hand brakes.

Steering - accuracy and safety of the mechanisms.

Lighting devices - operation of headlights, turn signals and brake lights.

The condition of the tires and chassis.

Exhaust emissions - compliance with environmental standards.

In addition, the general condition of the car and the availability of all necessary documents are assessed.

The International Technical Inspection Certificate (ITC) allows you to travel internationally and is a confirmation of your vehicle's compliance with the requirements of the 1997 Vienna Agreement.

What vehicles are required to have an MOT certificate?

Trucks of categories N2 and N3.

Trailers and semi-trailers.

Buses of categories M2 and M3.

The certificate is valid in Ukraine and in a number of other countries, including Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Estonia, Bulgaria, and others.

How to obtain the MOT certificate?

To obtain an international technical inspection certificate, you should follow these steps:

Prepare the car. Check the serviceability of all systems, replace the operating fluids and clean the car from dirt.

Collect the documents:

- Vehicle registration certificate.

- Passport of the vehicle owner or a notarized power of attorney for an authorized person.

- Tachograph inspection and calibration report (for freight vehicles).

Visit an accredited laboratory. Laboratories must be included in the register of NAAU (National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine).

Upon successful completion of the technical inspection, you will be issued an international certificate valid for one year.

What to do if the certificate is refused?

Refusal to issue a certificate may be caused by:

- vehicle malfunctions

- exceeding emission standards;

- mismatch of license plates or data in the registration documents.

In this case, eliminate the detected malfunctions and contact the service again.
