Tour of Austrian Lviv
About the tour
A tour of Austrian Lviv
The emperor was changing the city's appearance, trying to make Lviv similar to Paris and Vienna.
The municipal fortifications were destroyed; monasteries and churches no longer performed their direct functions and were transferred to the subordination of state and municipal institutions.
During the bus tour, you will see some of the city's territories that were built up during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You will see the two main Lviv universities, walk along Shevchenko Avenue, see the Opera House and Svobody Avenue, which are a unique architectural solution to the swamp problem, and the gates of the Lychakiv Semetra, the oldest in Lviv.
The tour tries to recapture the spirit of "Old Austria" hidden in the beautiful buildings of theaters, museums, banks, casinos, restaurants and hotels, demonstrating a unique combination of Western art (Secession style) and local traditions.
