How can Eswatini citizens obtain a permanent residence permit in Ukraine?
A permanent residence permit (PRP) in Ukraine is an official document that grants foreigners the right to legally reside in Ukraine without time restrictions. With PRP, a Eswatini citizen can enjoy almost all the rights granted to Ukrainian citizens (except the right to vote and serve in the military).
Procedure for obtaining PRP in Ukraine for Eswatini
Eswatini citizens who wish to obtain a permanent residence permit in Ukraine must go through the following steps:
1. Legally stay on the territory of Ukraine (usually on the basis of a type "D" visa);
2. Obtain an immigration permit;

Who among foreigners is eligible for permanent residency?
There are two main categories of grounds for immigration to Ukraine — under quota and outside the quota.
1. Immigration under quota
This category includes:
- Highly qualified specialists and cultural figures;
- Persons who have invested at least 100,000 USD in Ukraine’s economy;
- Relatives of Ukrainian citizens;
- Spouses and children of persons who already hold PRP;
- Refugees — after 3 years of obtaining asylum.

2. Immigration outside the quota
The following persons can obtain PRP without quota limitations:
- A Eswatini citizen who has been married to a Ukrainian citizen for 2 or more years;
- Close relatives (first-degree kinship) of Ukrainian citizens;
- Persons of Ukrainian origin or members of the Ukrainian diaspora;

Applications and other documents related to citizenship are submitted:
- by a person who legally resides in Ukraine — to the territorial office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine at their place of residence in Ukraine;
- by a person who has been granted refugee status or asylum in Ukraine — to the territorial office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine at their place of registration;
- by a person who permanently resides abroad — to the diplomatic mission or consular office of Ukraine at their place of permanent residence.
The application and other citizenship-related documents must be submitted personally by the applicant.
In the presence of valid reasons (such as illness, natural disaster, etc.), the application and documents may be submitted by another person or sent by mail at the applicant’s request.
The application and documents for a legally incapable person are submitted by their guardian.
The application and documents for a child are submitted by one of the parents or another legal representative at the place of residence of the child, or one of the parents or the legal representative.
The process of acquiring Ukrainian citizenship is carried out exclusively at the initiative of the person. For children aged 14 to 18, acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship is possible only with their consent.
How to obtain the service?
- Collect the required documents;
- contact the territorial office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine at the place of residence of the child or one of their parents or another legal representative;
- submit the application along with the required documents;
- receive a certificate confirming registration as a citizen of Ukraine (which serves as the basis for issuing a passport) at the territorial office of the State Migration Service of Ukraine at the place of residence.
