Ukrainian education is considered one of the best in the world, given its long and rich history. In 2005, Ukraine joined the Bologna Process, which was a positive step toward the integration of Ukrainian education into the European area of higher education.
Ukrainian higher education institutions offer courses in Ukrainian and English. Foreign students have the opportunity to study in more than 240 higher educational institutions and acquire specialties in various scientific fields.
Foreigners can enter higher education institutions under accredited educational programs in the following ways:
Twice a year for Junior Bachelor, Bachelor, and Master's degrees, before and at the beginning of an academic semester.
During the year for studies in graduate school, doctorate, medical residency, preparatory faculty program, and academic mobility program.

Can a foreigner receive a scholarship at a Ukrainian university?
Appointment and payment of academic scholarships to students, cadets of non-military higher education institutions, clinical residents, trainee assistants, graduate students, doctoral students from among foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in Ukraine, persons granted refugee status in Ukraine, persons in need additional or temporary protection, occurs in the event that they obtain higher education within the quotas determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and on general grounds.
Students from countries that require a visa or enjoy a visa-free regime for up to 90 days (tourist, private, and business trips) must apply for a long-term visa (type D) to Ukraine, which allows them to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days.
Citizens of countries with which Ukraine has signed an agreement on a visa-free regime (Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan) do not need a visa to Ukraine, but they must provide the original or a copy of the study invitation when crossing the Ukrainian border to verify the purpose of visit to Ukraine.
To obtain a long-term visa (type D), a future student must submit a number of documents to the Ukrainian consulate or embassy in his/her country.
It is worth emphasizing that documents about your previous education must be officially certified before submission to the consulate. This can be done in one of two ways: get legalization at the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Ukraine in your country, or have it certified by an apostille and legalized at the Embassy of Ukraine in your country. These documents must be officially recognized in Ukraine so that the Ukrainian university can issue you a diploma.
Also, you must submit the study invitation to the consulate.
How to get a study invitation?
All foreign applicants who come to Ukraine for the purpose of studying must receive a study invitation from the university they enter, in order to be able to obtain a student visa. The invitation must meet all the requirements set by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for this document.
In order to register your invitation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the educational institution must receive the necessary documents from you:
Valid passport (copy)
Consent to the processing of personal data
Copy of education documents
