The New Year is approaching, which this year Ukrainians will have to celebrate to the sound of an air alarm. Last year, at this time, people were already busy preparing for the celebration.

But this year, everything changed because of the war. Many Ukrainians ask themselves the question: how to celebrate the New Year during the war? After all, today, there are a numerous restrictions that should be followed in order not to expose yourself and your loved ones to danger.

In this material, we will tell you how to celebrate the New Year without breaking the rules and prohibitions.

How to bypass the curfew?

Many establishments this year offer two options for celebrating the New Year, which will help you not to break the rules:

• Some cafes and restaurants offer a compromise: they organize a festive program that will last, for example, from 18:00 to 22:30. Thus, Ukrainians will be able to celebrate the New Year in a restaurant, and return home to continue the celebration until the beginning of the curfew;

• There is another option: if you stay in the restaurant or cafe all the time, without going outside, you can legally bypass the curfew. Some facilities have basements that can be converted into shelters. But keep in mind that in this case you cannot go outside even for a minute, because in this case both you and the establishment where you are resting will have to pay a fine.

How will restaurants and cafes work in the New Year?

This year, restaurants and clubs will have to organize New Year's Eve with a number of restrictions. Institutions that include a hotel were in the most convenient situation.

"Now we are preparing for the holiday. This year, we offer our visitors a package of services, which will include a stay at a hotel with breakfast and a New Year's celebration. The approximate cost of a standard room is UAH 1,800. And although people are already booking rooms, this year the holiday will be completely different from the format we are all used to", - said a representative of the well-known Kyiv restaurant "Bakkara", which includes a hotel, in an interview with Vesti.

It is emphasized that this year the institutions do not plan entertainment in the form of fireworks and performances by famous artists.

Restaurants that do not have a hotel offer their visitors another option, which is also completely legal.

"If the authorities do not make adjustments to the schedule of the curfew on New Year's Eve, we will invite guests at 10:00 p.m., but after the curfew begins, we will close the doors, which means that our guests will have to stay inside the establishment until the end of the curfew. The local authorities assured us that this type of celebration is completely legal", - said the top manager of the well-known Kyiv chain "Docker"

The cost of such an entrance ticket will be 750 hryvnias. Festive meals and drinks will also cost approximately 750 hryvnias, but only if it is not about elite, expensive alcohol.

Also, representatives of institutions warn that this year, visitors should be prepared for an increase in the average check by about 10%. Firstly, such an increase is expected due to the operation of generators. Many cafes, hotels and restaurants already have autonomous power, so in the event of a power outage, the generator will have to be turned on all night to provide guests with light, heat, music and hot food.

Are concerts planned on New Year's Eve?

Unfortunately, this year, Ukrainians will have to celebrate the New Year without concerts. But there are reasons for this. First, any concert is a large gathering of people, so in the event of an air alarm, it can cause jostling and panic. Second, because of the loud music, there is a high probability of not hearing the air raid signal.

Are there plans to ease restrictions on New Year's Eve?

Many people still hope that the authorities will reduce or cancel the curfew altogether and allow the New Year to be celebrated "as before". But due to the great danger of large-scale shelling on holidays, no changes to the curfew schedule are foreseen. The local government of cities and regions of the country did not give any comments on the easing of restrictions on New Year's Eve.

Please note that the use of pyrotechnics during New Year's holidays can be classified as petty hooliganism.

"Now is not the time to use such products. I personally emphasize that you should think three times before buying such things this year, because it will be impossible to use them legally", - said Biloshitskyi, the first deputy chief of the Patrol Police Department.

We will remind you! A map of holiday locations was developed in Ukraine. Find out which cities still decided to install symbolic Christmas trees, what they will be like this year, and where the ice rinks were set up by following the link.
