Martial law continues to operate in Ukraine and, as a result, a curfew is in effect in all regions of the country (except Transcarpathia). During this period, Ukrainians have learned to adapt to all restrictions, but force majeure circumstances can happen to everyone and there will be a need to move around the city after the curfew. We tell you how to get home during restrictions.

Features of the curfew

As you know, in most regions you cannot be outside without a special pass from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The only exception is the need to go to the shelter in case of an air alarm.

Who doesn't need a pass to get around the city during curfew?

A special pass is not required for representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Special Transit Service, the National Police, the State Border Guard Service, and some other agencies when performing official duties.

Is it possible to call a taxi to get home safely before the curfew and during restrictions without a special pass - read on.

Call a taxi before curfew

The peak time for taxi calls is between 30 and 60 minutes before curfew. Ukrainians order cars to get home quickly, so the cost of the service increases.

Most calls are made on Saturday, Sunday and Friday evenings.

Why is the price of a taxi increasing?

The reason is simple - the number of people willing to travel by car is increasing, and the number of drivers who can fulfill orders is decreasing. The highest load occurs at 10:00 p.m., and 15 minutes before the start of the curfew, the demand decreases.

What are the taxi prices before curfew?

Different companies can set their own tariffs.

For example, "Express Taxi" offers a trip from the railway station to the left bank of the capital for UAH 440, if you call a car at 22:20, and for UAH 365, if you order a taxi at 21:45. "Elite Taxi" is more expensive - a similar trip will cost UAH 669.

Calling a taxi during the curfew

The network has information about carriers that are ready to travel during the curfew. This is due to the presence of special passes for drivers. At the same time, some taxi services agree to a trip only if the passenger has the appropriate permit.

Importantly! The driver's special pass does not apply to the passenger. If you are stopped at a checkpoint, the driver will avoid problems, because he will easily deny the fact of charging, and the passenger can be taken to the police station for identification and an explanation of the circumstances.

Do not break the curfew and do not use the services of carriers, even if the price for calling a taxi looks favorable.

For example, the most popular taxi services Uber and Bolt do not operate at all and do not accept orders during the curfew. Companies put apps on hold for the duration of the restrictions.

Rail transport during the curfew

At night, railway stations do not stop working if a train is scheduled to arrive or depart during this period.

If your train is late and you arrive after curfew - stay at the station. With a travel ticket, you will get access to the waiting room and a basic set of products. You can also find volunteers with a special pass and ask them to drive you home.

After buying a night train ticket, arrive at the station before 11:00 PM to avoid problems.

Liability for violation of curfew

Ukrainian legislation does not provide for liability for curfew violations. Usually, police officers draw up a report under Article 185 of the Code of Ukraine "On Administrative Offenses", which punishes malicious disobedience of a police officer. Such a protocol can be challenged in court, which mostly happens, because cases are often closed due to the lack of an offense.

If you are pulled over during curfew, do the following:

• Show your documents to the law enforcement officer;

• allow you to inspect your belongings or vehicle;

• calmly and without panic, explain the reason for being outside.

We will remind you! The government approved Resolution No. 69 and made changes regarding the travel abroad of people's deputies, deputies of local councils, judges, prosecutors, civil servants and other categories of persons. Read about who was banned from leaving the country here.
