Many Ukrainians currently live temporarily in the countries of the European Union. Because of the war, Ukrainian refugees are forced to build their lives abroad from the beginning. Many countries support Ukrainians, providing them with the necessary material and social assistance, trying to make the lives of our fellow citizens as comfortable as possible in their new place.

Agreements between Ukrainian and foreign mobile operators, which reached certain agreements so that Ukrainians currently living abroad, did not lose contact with their relatives who remained in the Motherland were no exception.

Free roaming for Ukrainians in the EU: details

During the Ukraine - European Union Summit held on February 2, 7 Ukrainian and 20 European mobile operators signed an agreement to jointly provide Ukrainians currently living in the EU with the most accessible roaming for communication with their relatives.

Kyivstar, Vodafone, lifecell, Ukrtelecom, Data Group, Vega Telecom, and 3Mob became Ukrainian representatives of affordable roaming.

How long will free roaming for Ukrainians on the territory of EU countries last?

The agreement between Ukrainian and European operators will be valid for 6 months.

This agreement is an extension of the previous agreement, which was reached by the operators back in April 2022.

As you know, after signing the previous agreement, Ukrainians got the opportunity to use affordable roaming services in 25 countries of the European Union, as well as in several countries that are not members of the EU.

What are the benefits of free roaming in the EU for Ukrainians?

Agreements between the Ukrainian and European parties will significantly reduce Ukrainians' communication costs and neutralize the need to pay for additional services.

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities reports that recently there has been a large increase in the use of mobile Internet and voice roaming services. According to estimates, the average duration of a voice call increased from 17 to 52 minutes, and mobile Internet traffic increased from 474 MB to 3.6 GB. This is a clear confirmation of the success of the joint work of Ukrainian and European operators on accessible roaming on the territory of the EU.

We will remind you! Earlier we talked about the fact that from now on Ukrainians will be able to marry or divorce abroad. What is needed for this and other nuances of conducting the relevant procedure can be found at the link.
