New assistance for Ukrainian refugees in Germany from Jobcenter: how to get it
Ukrainians in Germany can count on new assistance from Bürgergeld. In particular, since July, the Jobcenter has been offering refugees new opportunities for further training. Find out more about how to take advantage
The German support program Bürgergeld opens up new prospects for Ukrainians living in Germany. Starting from July 1, 2023, the Jobcenter will offer refugees a number of new opportunities to improve their skills.
The initiative provides a wide range of support and training to improve the skills of Ukrainians and facilitate their successful integration into German society. How it works and what is needed to receive support is described in the article below.

New assistance for Ukrainians in Germany: details
From now on, refugees from Ukraine can receive the following offers from the Jobcenter as part of the Teilhabe am Arbeitsmarkt program:
- you can complete training in your specialty and receive a relevant certificate. This may include training from scratch, which usually lasts three years, and its costs will be covered;
- you will receive financial support while learning the necessary basic skills, such as reading, math or IT;
- if you need to attend further education courses to complete your studies in your field of study, you will receive additional support in the amount of 150 euros ("Weiterbildungsgeld");
- if you participate in programs that help you return to your profession for a longer period of time, you will receive an additional "Bürgergeld-Bonus" of 75 euros per month;
- you can also take advantage of intensive coaching provided by the job center. This new offer allows you to receive support right at home so that you can continue to learn a new profession or work.

It is emphasized that the special program "Teilhabe am Arbeitsmarkt" is now a permanent offer of the Jobcenter aimed at helping people who have difficulty finding their place in the labor market.
To take advantage of these benefits, you need to familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions in more detail. You can do this by contacting the Jobcenter or visiting their website. There you will find full information about the available support programs, including training courses, workshops and other resources.
Please note! If you receive assistance under the Bürgergeld, you are also eligible for further training courses. However, they are not automatic. Firstly, you need to have a personal consultation to determine whether you meet the requirements for receiving support.
If you are already participating in a refresher course that will not be completed by July 1, 2023, you will be able to receive an additional amount of EUR 150 per month ("Weiterbildungsgeld") from that date.
As a reminder, Ukrainian citizens are required to apply for temporary protection in the country of residence. However, sometimes, after applying for asylum in one EU country, it becomes necessary to change the place of residence. The simultaneous stay of visitors in the hotel lobby not more than one person per 10 square meters of serviceable area is allowed.
Persons can visit hotels and stay there (outside hotel room) only if they wear respirator or face mask (including homemade mask), so that the nose and mouth are covered.
