The term of legal stay for refugees from Ukraine in Poland has been extended: details

Polish President Andrzej Duda has signed a law amending the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens in connection with russia's armed aggression. According to the amendments, the country extended the period of temporary protection for refugees. Here's how long Ukrainians can stay in Poland.


The period of stay of refugees from Ukraine in Poland has been extended: what is known


Refugees from Ukraine who have taken refuge in Poland will be able to stay in the country legally until March 4, 2024, Dziennik Ustaw RP reports. Such changes concern the right to stay in Poland for Ukrainians who arrived in the country after February 24, 2022.


As you know, earlier this period ended on August 24, 2023.


For Ukrainians studying in Polish educational institutions, their stay in the country has been extended until August 31, 2024. This change also applies to parents and guardians of minor students.


Please note! The changes will come into force in Poland 14 days after the date of publication of the law.

What assistance is available to Ukrainians in Poland? 


Families from Ukraine are eligible to receive financial assistance for adults and children in 2023. In particular, refugees are eligible for support under the programs Karta Dużej Rodziny, Family 500+, Dobry Start and others.
