A visa-free arrangement exists between Ukraine and Austria. However, there are instances where foreigners still need to obtain a visa before entering Ukraine. We are sharing the current protocols for crossing the Ukrainian border, as well as considerations for planning a journey during a period of martial law.

Ukraine is an extraordinary country with unique natural beauty and rich historical landmarks. The allure of immersing oneself in Ukrainian culture beckons travelers from abroad, even in the face of ongoing attacks on cities by russia.

While the visa-free regime facilitates entry into Ukraine, the restricted airspace compels travelers to meticulously organize their trips, selecting from various transportation options. In the article, we will delve into the specifics of visa-free travel regulations, provide insights on purchasing tickets to Ukraine, and outline the most convenient means of reaching this captivating destination.

It should be noted that in the first half of 2023, more than 3 thousand tourists from Austria visited Ukraine.

Visa-free travel from Austria

Ukraine and Austria agreed on a visa-free entry regime for their citizens. With valid identity documents, Austrians can come to Ukraine without a visa and stay in Ukraine for 90 days within 180 days.

To cross the border smoothly, foreigners need to have:

Health insurance policy;

● Confirmation of the purpose of the trip, namely hotel reservations, housing rental contracts, travel vouchers, tickets for seminars, exhibitions, fairs, invitations from companies, etc.;

● Confirmation of sufficient financial support - $45 per person for each day of stay in Ukraine.

Please note that you cannot work or study in Ukraine without a special visa.

When do Austrian citizens need to issue a visa to Ukraine?

It is necessary to issue a visa for entering Ukraine if:

● The planned period of stay in Ukraine exceeds 90 days.

● The foreigner plans to work or get an education.

● A foreigner plans to obtain a permanent residence permit in Ukraine.

A foreigner can get one of three types of visa:

● Transit (type "B") visa for passage through Ukraine to a third country. The permitted period of stay under such a visa does not exceed 5 days.

● Short-term (type "C") visa for a stay in Ukraine for up to 90 days within 180 days.

● Long-term (type "D") visa for further registration by the competent authorities of Ukraine of documents giving the right to stay or reside in Ukraine for more than 90 days.

Safety rules in Ukraine in wartime conditions

Due to the war, Ukraine is not a safe country to travel to. However, if you follow the safety rules, you can minimize the risks. We emphasize that after the announcement of the air danger signal, it is necessary to immediately proceed to the shelter.

We also recommend that you purchase an insurance policy that covers the indemnification of war-related risks: damages in the event of an accident due to hostilities or acts of terrorism. Buy reliable insurance quickly and easily using the link.

Another component that will make your stay in Ukraine safe is a hotel with its shelter. View the options via the link and choose the accommodation to your taste.
