The United for Ukraine (UFU) initiative has announced the resumption of a program to provide free temporary housing for Ukrainian citizens currently living abroad.

Here are the details and how to apply for free housing in Europe.

United for Ukraine resumes the program of providing temporary housing for Ukrainians: details

Since February 24, 2022, United for Ukraine has successfully helped more than 12,000 people displaced from Ukraine due to the russian invasion. This temporary shelter program has been a great help to many, allowing them to find safe haven and facilitating their adaptation to new conditions abroad.

Now, thanks to the support of its partners Airbnb.org and PHINEO, UFU is renewing the program to continue to help Ukrainians. However, the program is open only to those who have not previously used United for Ukraine's housing services.

Key parameters of United for Ukraine

The program is valid until December 31, 2023. Housing can be obtained for a period of 7 to 30 days.

Free temporary housing is provided:

- Persons evacuating from combat areas, occupied territories and those where military operations, including air strikes, are underway.

- Children with their parents or guardians who leave Ukraine for medical reasons.

- Military personnel, veterans and their families who leave Ukraine for medical treatment.

- Refugees who are outside Ukraine and need assistance in critical situations, such as urgent medical treatment in other countries and other circumstances.

Please note that applicants must be citizens of Ukraine or foreign nationals with valid residence documents in Ukraine. Temporary housing is available only outside of Ukraine.

If you are interested in the current rules for entering a particular country and the documents required for this, we recommend using a special form on the Visit Ukraine website. If you would like to apply for free temporary accommodation in Europe, please visit the United for Ukraine web platform and go to the "Find Temporary Accommodation" section. There, you will be asked to fill out a form with the required information and the duration of your stay (up to 30 days).

The program is valid until December 31, but it is recommended that you apply as soon as possible to be eligible for free accommodation.

We remind you! Since the beginning of 2010, the cost of housing in European countries has increased by 70% on average. However, there are also countries where real estate prices have remained virtually unchanged during this time.
