Ukraine has decided to introduce punishment for curfew violators. The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading of the bill, developed jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police. We tell you what fine awaits violators and who will not be penalised.

There will be two different fines for citizens and businesses.

The bill provides that the penalty for individuals will be from 8.5 to 17 thousand hryvnias. If a citizen repeatedly violates the curfew, the amount of the fine will be multiplied by two.

At the same time, even larger amounts are envisaged for businesses - from 51 thousand to 102 thousand hryvnias. If curfew violations are repeatedly recorded within a year, the amount of fine will increase to 170 and 340 thousand hryvnias.

In what cases are people allowed to be on the street during curfew?

The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained in detail that it does not consider it a violation of the rules:

- if a person follows to or from shelters during an air raid;

- accompanies the injured or critically ill;

- helps evacuate the public or rescues property;

- provides medical or pre-medical care;

- Is in a state of emergency.

It is worth noting that this bill will come into force only after MPs pass it in the second reading, and then it will be approved by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
