Today, Europe openly accepts refugees from Ukraine, providing them with the right to healthcare, education, accommodation and work. Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic are among the leaders in hosting refugees. But this does not mean that these countries have the best living and employment conditions. So which countries are the best choices in 2024?

Every year, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network compiles the World Happiness Report, an international ranking of the world's happiest countries. It includes 150 countries. The following factors are taken into account when compiling the list:

• Social support

• GDP per capita

• Freedom of choice

• Healthy Life Expectancy

• The presence/absence of corruption

We will tell you which European countries occupy the highest positions, where the best salaries, working conditions and the least competition for jobs are available.

TOP countries to live in Europe in 2024

1st place - Finland

This country has been a leader in the World Happiness Report for 10 years. It is characterized by high trust in the government and freedom.

Minimum wages here vary depending on the industry and the decision of individual trade unions. On average, you can earn at least 1800-2000 EUR per month. The working day is 8 hours, and overtime is paid at double time. Since 1987, Finland has had a law on gender equality, which guarantees the same level of remuneration and access to jobs for both women and men.

Although Finland is at the top of the ranking and offers good living and working conditions, the country is not popular among Ukrainian migrants. This means that it can be safely chosen as a place of refuge in 2024, as the competition for jobs here will be the least.

2nd place - Denmark

The Danish word hygge describes a state in which we feel comfort, convenience, and kindness. According to the Danes, the key to happiness is regular meetings with people.

The minimum wage is not set here, but you can expect to be paid from 2500 EUR per month. At the same time, on average, you can earn about 5200 EUR per month in Denmark. In addition to the right to work, refugees here have free education for children and healthcare.

3rd place - the Netherlands

The country has a very developed social sphere: healthcare, family assistance, and financial support. This is one of the main factors that makes the Netherlands take the honorable 3rd place. It is also important that the country is friendly to foreigners, so you can safely go here if you have the intention to work hard.

The Netherlands is among the leaders in terms of published vacancies on the European job search portal europa.jobs, which can be easily checked by current publications. The minimum wage here is set depending on age and is calculated exclusively on an hourly basis to maintain fair pay, regardless of the hours worked per week. From January 1, 2024, it is 13.27 EUR for people over 21 years old.

4th place - Sweden

The country's citizens are characterized by a high degree of trust in the government. At the same time, Sweden is not the most popular among economic migrants, and therefore there is a demand for a diverse workforce. There is no minimum wage here, but usually offers on the market start at 2500-3000 EUR per month.

Sweden is hospitable to refugees. You can apply for temporary protection status here within 90 days of arrival.

5th place - Switzerland

The country is considered one of the richest in the world, and therefore the salaries are appropriate. And although their minimum level is not regulated, the labor market here is very stable. You can count on earnings from 2700-3000 EUR for the lowest paid positions.

At the same time, everyone who arrives from Ukraine to Switzerland will receive the S protection status, which gives the right to reside in Switzerland for one year. It can later be changed to B status, which is also valid for one year. At the same time, it is not necessary to have a visa to enter.

Choosing one of the countries above means significantly increasing your chances of finding a good job.

Many employers offer jobs without language skills. In addition, you can always find vacancies with accommodation, which is very important for many people nowadays.

We remind you! Millions of refugees from Ukraine have been forced to settle abroad for more than a year and a half, and they face many legal problems along the way. Read more about the issues that Ukrainian refugees most often turn to lawyers with in our previous article.
