How many donations did the largest foundations of Ukraine raise in 2023?

Ukrainians' donations amount to tens of billions of hryvnias, but the figures are lower than at the beginning of the Great War. Find out how much money charitable foundations in Ukraine raised last year and where Ukrainians donated the most

In 2023, Ukraine ranked second in the global charity ranking, behind only Indonesia, which has been recognized as the most generous country for six years in a row. However, according to Opendatabot, the number of donors in 2023 was almost half that of 2022. 


How much money have the largest Ukrainian foundations raised?


In the first 12 months of last year, Ukrainians donated UAH 18.75 billion to the three largest foundations. At the same time, according to data from United 24, Come Back Alive, and the Shelter Fund, the record amounts of money raised were at the end of the year.

For example, United 24 raised UAH 12.07 billion, Come Back Alive raised UAH 4.53 billion, and the Shelter Fund raised UAH 2.14 billion.

For comparison, in 2022, the total amount of donations reached a record 34.38 billion UAH. Of this amount, 2/3 was raised in the first six months of the year - UAH 24 billion, and the remaining UAH 10.5 billion was donated by Ukrainians in the second half of the year.

Where did Ukrainians donate the most?


According to data from United 24, Ukrainians donated the most to the Armed Forces - UAH 10.81 billion (90%). In addition, the areas for which funds were raised include

– healthcare - UAH 0.76 billion (6%);

– restoration of destroyed property and infrastructure - UAH 0.25 billion (2%);

– humanitarian demining - UAH 0.13 billion (1%);

– education and science needs - UAH 0.12 billion (1%).
