Children of Ukrainian citizens currently residing in Poland will be obliged to attend local schools from the beginning of September. This is an important decision aimed at integrating Ukrainian children into the Polish educational environment and facilitating their adaptation to the new learning environment. Starting from September 1, 2024, all Ukrainian schoolchildren living in Poland will be required to study in local schools. The Ministry of Education of this country is preparing a bill that provides for such changes. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Education Joanna Mucha, Radio Svoboda reports.

Updated rules for Ukrainian children in Poland
According to the official, there are currently about 60 thousand Ukrainian children in Poland who do not attend local schools.
"The Ukrainian side is very interested in the obligation of Ukrainian children to attend Polish schools. For their part, they offer cooperation and we will take advantage of this offer. Most of this program is already ready, we are waiting for the law to be approved and then we will officially inform about the details," Mukha said.

It is expected that Ukrainian children studying in Polish schools will be given special lessons in the Ukrainian language. Teachers from Ukraine will be hired for this purpose, and they will be offered a simplified procedure for nostrification of diplomas.
It is also known that Ukrainian children will be taught about European integration. The Ministry of Education believes that this knowledge will be useful to them in light of Ukraine's upcoming accession to the European Union.
