Vacationing on the shores of Ukrainian waters: where can you go in August?
Table of contents
August is the last month of summer, so the vacation season is just getting into full swing. Everyone wants to get to the water while the sun is blazing and the temperature is breaking all records. Read more about where you can now relax in Ukraine in the article
Almost completely closed seashores in southern Ukraine as a result of the difficult military situation have caused tourists to urgently look for new ideas for recreation. Of course, this has benefited small and medium-sized businesses in various regions of Ukraine. Over the past few years, the number of recreation centers on the banks of rivers and the quality of services provided to visitors have increased significantly. We offer you places in Ukraine where you can physically and spiritually recover before the start of the new working year.
See the list of 11 natural wonders of Ukraine to visit this weekend here.
Lake Sirka
Located in the Lviv region, also known as the Yavoriv Quarry (Ukraine's largest artificial lake).
Bakota Bay
Located in the Kamianets-Podilskyi district of Khmelnytskyi region.
The flooded village, 50 km from Khmelnytskyi, is often called the "Ukrainian Atlantis" by tourists, and it is included in all possible tourist tops every year. And it's not just the mild climate, clear water, and incredible sunsets... Some linguists say that the name translates from the Old Slavonic language as "desired place." Anyone who has been here at least once cannot deny it. Its history goes back more than 1000 years, but the village became "Atlantis" (like many other villages nearby) after the construction of the Novodnistrovska hydroelectric power station. Every year on August 14, former villagers gather here, just like pilgrims used to. So visitors can not only admire the scenery, but also touch the history and the human soul that has remained forever under the waters of the Bakot Bay.
Dniester Canyon
Located on the border of 4 regions of Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, and Khmelnytsky.
The total length of the canyon is 250 km, which makes it one of the largest in Europe. In 2008, it was decided to include it in the list of 7 natural wonders of Ukraine, and even earlier, several reserves and sanctuaries were established on the banks of the canyon: the Dniester Canyon National Nature Park, the Dniester Canyon Regional Landscape Park, the Dniester Regional Landscape Park, and the Bakot Bay, which was mentioned above. So visitors here will be able to enrich themselves spiritually and culturally (the canyon hides many secrets of Ukrainian history), practice sports (perhaps the best place for hiking), and learn a lot of new and interesting things about Ukraine's natural attractions.

Toskiv cascading waterfall
Located near the village of Tokivske in the Apostolivskyi district of the Dnipro region.
The relatively low (6 m) waterfall was formed naturally on red granite ledges. Currently, it is one of the most attractive places for recreation of regional importance, also known as the "waterfall on the Kamianka River". The place for recreation will not only provide an opportunity for aesthetic enjoyment (and a waterfall on red granite is an extraordinary phenomenon!), but will also allow you to touch the incredible history and legends of the southern steppe. It is not for nothing that locals say that the estate of the last Ukrainian hetman used to be here, and next to it there is a well with the most delicious water. When else will you have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the last hetman?
Fans of recreation near water bodies will be able to find their favorite place not only near a waterfall or in a canyon. If you are fond of lakes of natural origin, you can choose something for yourself here.
This is just a small part of the incredible places that everyone can visit. They have not only natural but also historical and cultural significance for Ukraine. So don't miss your chance to experience the extraordinary!
