In the northern regions of Ukraine, the number of patients with COVID-19 has increased several times. In particular, this information was provided by doctors in Rivne and Sumy regions. At the same time, on 12 August, a briefing was held on changes to COVID-19 vaccination recommendations, during which Deputy Minister of Health and Chief Medical Officer Igor Kuzin said that representatives of high-risk groups should be revaccinated annually with one dose. What changes have been made to the COVID-19 vaccination procedure?
Simplification of COVID-19 vaccination schemes
For most Ukrainians, only one vaccination is now required to protect against COVID-19, and for those at risk of severe COVID-19, revaccination is prescribed 6-12 months after the last vaccination.

Changes in the definitions of COVID-19 vaccination stages
Primary vaccination - 1 vaccination (2 vaccinations for certain categories)
Revaccination - all subsequent vaccinations against COVID-19.
Please note: Both primary vaccination and revaccination against COVID-19 require one dose of the vaccine.

Who is at risk and needs regular revaccination against COVID-19?
During the briefing, Ihor Kuzin pointed out that revaccination is required for the population at risk. This list includes the following categories:
- pregnant women
- people over 60 years of age;
- representatives of all age groups with weakened immunity (HIV, diabetes, cancer patients);
- representatives of all age groups with concomitant or severe chronic diseases;
- representatives of all age groups who are at risk of severe illness and death due to COVID-19;
- representatives of professional risk groups (doctors, teachers, military and service workers).

Additional information on COVID-19 vaccination
1. The need for revaccination is determined by a doctor in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health
2. People who have completed the basic vaccination course are entitled to free revaccination.
3. People who have never been vaccinated against COVID-19 should receive a one-time mRNA vaccine.
4. Citizens who are not at risk can be vaccinated if they wish.
5. Vaccination against COVID-19 remains free of charge.
