Recently, it became known that Ukraine plans to introduce certain restrictions on off-road vehicles and ATVs. Find out more about who will be affected by the ban and where restrictions are expected
Recently, the Verkhovna Rada has submitted draft law No. 11024, which provides for the emergence of places in Ukraine where off-road vehicles will be prohibited. The purpose of this initiative and where such vehicles will not be allowed to drive are discussed further in this article.
Traffic ban: what should SUV drivers know?
Draft Law No. 11024 provides for amendments to the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine’ to ensure the preservation of the territories and objects of the nature reserve fund.
This means that in the future, off-road vehicles and ATVs will be banned from driving on the territories of Ukraine that have been recognised as nature reserves.
Nature reserves are special natural areas created to preserve unique flora and fauna, as well as geological sites. They are a kind of wildlife ‘oasis’ where all processes occur naturally, without human intervention.
Driving off-road vehicles and quad bikes in nature reserves has long been banned in European countries, as it causes enormous damage to flora and fauna.
It is worth noting that draft law No. 11024 was approved in the first reading and sent back for revision.
However, there is no information yet on the fines that violators will have to pay.
