Earlier we wrote about what you can seeon the way from Kyiv to Odesa by car.

Botanical Garden in Odesa: tropics and tundra under one sky

The botanical garden under the southern sun of Odesa has more than 3000 trees! But it is not the number of plants that impresses visitors the most, but their climatic diversity. In this botanical garden, you can see not only tropical and subtropical plants, but also exotic species from all known climatic zones, including the tundra. At the same time, the garden's collection is constantly replenished with new plants brought from different parts of the world.

Founded in 1867, this botanical garden has a rich history. Legend has it that it was decided to give the yard and bathhouse of the local university to create the garden. The first tree in the garden was planted by the famous Count Langeron, and since then the botanical garden has become not only a center of scientific research, but also a place where prominent biologists worked and created, making their famous discoveries here.

In early autumn, the Odesa Botanical Garden continues to be under the warm Odesa sun and fresh sea air. An ideal location where every step immerses you in an autumn fairy tale. A visit to the botanical garden at this time of year is an opportunity to see it in an unusual light, color, mood, and touch the history of the place.

Yuliyivska Hora Botanical Reserve is the best botanical garden in the Carpathians

In the fall, nowhere is it as easy and fresh to breathe as in the mountains! You can feel the natural beauty and true freedom of the wind in the Ukrainian Carpathians, where the climate is the warmest. One such place is the Yuliyivska Hora botanical reserve, named after the mountain range of the Vyhorlat-Gutynsky ridge. Here, climatic conditions have made it possible to form a unique vegetation cover, which is home to mainly forest-steppe plant species, which are especially colorful in autumn.

The reserve was opened in 1974 and covers an area of 176 hectares. It is dominated by oak and beech forests, and there are also massifs of silver linden and rock oak groves, which in autumn turn into endless expanses covered with gold. Yuliyivska Hora is also the only place in Ukraine where the Burgundy oak grows naturally.

The reserve is considered unique and is under state protection. It is worth noting that although tourism in this area is developed, there are rules that are strictly followed: no bonfires and no garbage. After all, once you see such natural beauty, you won't want to disturb this perfect picture.

Botanical Garden in Khmelnytskyi: a little bit of Japan in Ukraine

The Botanical Garden of Khmelnytsky University in Khmelnytsky may be small in size, but it is both a natural monument and an object of the regional nature reserve fund, which has the status of a botanical garden of local importance. About 1400 different trees, herbaceous plants and shrubs, as well as 7000 flower and ornamental plants, are collected on the territory of 2.21 hectares.

The botanical garden is divided into five departments, each of which is responsible for a specific type of plant. The garden is particularly proud of the meadow of flowers, which is designed in the form of floating circles, and the Japanese Stone Garden, which looks atmospheric and impressive at any time of the year.

The garden also features a group of stones symbolizing Faith, Hope, Love and Sophia. Each of these stones is surrounded by flowers of different colors that reflect their symbolic meaning. The flowers are preserved until the cold weather.

In the fall, the Khmelnytsky University Botanical Garden continues its colorful life. Floral arrangements here are pleasing to the eye until the end of October, and colorful autumn leaves, swaying in the fresh and clear autumn air, create that unique atmosphere of comfort and natural tranquility that all citizens dream of.

Kremenets Botanical Garden: plant acclimatization and international approach

The Kremenets Botanical Garden in Ternopil region is a monument of landscape art in Ukraine and the world with an interesting history that dates back to 1754. Back then, the garden was laid out as an apothecary garden of the Jesuit College. It was only in 1805 that it turned into the botanical garden of the Volyn Gymnasium, and in 1806 it was redesigned by the Irish gardener Dionysius Mickler (Makler). Together with the Austrian biologist Wilibald Besser, they planted a 4.5-hectare plot on the territory of the Kremenets Higher Gymnasium. Thus, a wide variety of nationalities were involved in the creation of this location.

Over time, the Botanical Garden of Kremenets University began to function as a recreational area. In 1990, a decision was made to restore it, and since then it has again become an independent research center that deals with the acclimatization of foreign plants in new conditions.

In autumn, the Kremenets Botanical Garden turns into a real fairy tale, where nature seems to become an artist, painting with warm golden and crimson hues. Visitors come here for peace, quiet and reflection. Visiting this garden in the fall, you will discover its new, magical side, which is impossible to see at other times of the year.
