Iran has handed over its missiles to russia: how serious is this and how could it affect security in Ukraine?
The security situation in Ukraine continues to be threatened by constant russian missile attacks. With Iran transferring its missiles to putin's army, the threat level will increase. Find out what these missiles are capable of, which cities are most at risk, and what foreigners need to know before travelling to Ukraine
Ukraine is subjected to daily air attacks by the russian army. The russians use their own missiles or missiles developed during the Soviet era. Recently, putin's army has also been using North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles in Ukraine. However, it has recently become known that the occupiers' missile arsenal has been replenished with another variant of ballistic weapons - Iranian Fath missiles.
Here's how this will affect the security situation in Ukraine.
The danger of missile attacks will not change
The russian army regularly shells Ukrainian cities. And while the central and western regions of Ukraine are under attack from long-range tactical missiles and kamikaze drones, the frontline and border areas are under constant attack from artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and short-range ballistic missiles.
Therefore, the risk of air attacks remains high in Ukraine.
What is known about Fath-360 missiles?
The Fath-360 missiles, which, according to Western officials, Iran has transferred to russia, are short-range weapons. They can hit targets at a distance of up to 120 km.
Thus, these missiles will pose an additional threat to the frontline and border regions of Ukraine.
According to analysts at the Institute for War Studies, the russian army will use these missiles to strike Ukraine's energy, military and civilian infrastructure this autumn and winter.
The threat of these missiles is that, according to experts, their accuracy is ‘not outstanding’, which poses an even greater threat to the civilian population.
‘Based on the characteristics of the Fath-360, we can assume that these missiles can be used by the Islamic State in the battles in the east, to strike at the positions of our troops or to strike at frontline cities such as Pokrovsk, Sumy and Kharkiv,’ military analysts at the Defense Express portal believe.
At the same time, they do not rule out that in the process of transferring missile technology, the russians and Iranians could have resorted to disinformation measures, and russia could actually receive not Fath-360, but more powerful Fateh-110 missiles, which have a range of up to 300 km and whose hypothetical transfer to russia was reported by Western media last year.

Security rules for foreigners in Ukraine
Given that Ukrainian citizens have been living under constant bombardment for more than two and a half years, each of them knows what to do in the event of a missile threat.
At the same time, foreign nationals who come to Ukraine may not fully understand the algorithm of actions in the event of an air threat.
For guests of Ukraine, we remind you that the hostilities continue in the eastern, northeastern, southern and northern border regions. The highest level of danger remains there. However, there is also a risk of missile attacks in other parts of the country.
In the event of a missile launch, the regional authorities announce an air raid alert. At this time, citizens should take shelter. Find out where to find them here.
Before travelling to Ukraine, we recommend that foreign nationals take out an insurance policy covering military risks.
