Supernova Airlines, a subsidiary of Nova Poshta, has been granted the rights to operate regular international flights Lviv - Prague and Kyiv - Prague from 1 November 2024. This is evidenced by the order of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine No. 789.

We will tell you whether this means that flights over Ukraine will resume.

The news came the day after Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that security experts were discussing the possibility of reopening the airport in Lviv, but, according to him, there were questions about flight safety.

What does the flight permit mean for Supernova Airlines?

The order of the State Aviation Service states that Supernova is granted the right to operate Lviv-Prague and Kyiv-Prague flights with a frequency of 7 flights per week for scheduled international air travel.

At the same time, Ukrainian media claim that this is only a technical permit. And since the skies in Ukraine are closed, flights from Kyiv or Lviv are out of the question now. They will start as soon as Ukraine's airspace is reopened.

Supernova has received permission to fly within the EU

Against the backdrop of the online hype about flights to Ukrainian cities, Nova Poshta made another statement. It says that on 17 October, Supernova Airlines, part of the Nova group, received the European Union Aviation Safety Agency's (EASA) Part-TCO for flights in Europe, which is required for non-European airlines.

This means that the company will be able to operate commercial flights in the EU skies, the final preparations for which are underway.

Moreover, in the future, Supernova plans to operate long-haul flights from the US to Europe, from China to Europe, and will be ready to operate charter flights on behalf of third-party customers in accordance with the capabilities of the Boeing 737-800SF.
