Ukraine begins preparations for Eurovision 2023
After the resounding victory of the Kalush Orchestra in the final of Eurovision-2022, Ukraine begins preparations for the competition in 2023.
This was announced today by Deputy Head of the Office of President Kyrylo Tymoshenko on his Telegram channel.
“We show the world our openness, hospitality, and ability to implement large-scale projects. The main issue for us and the European Language Union is security, "he wrote.
Tymoshenko noted that the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine have been integrated into the preparation of the competition from the very beginning.
“In order to ensure convenient logistics and, most importantly, security, we consider various locations. Which we can't announce yet, ”Tymoshenko said.
He noted that now Ukraine is defending not only its land, but also the entire civilized democratic world, and thanked European partners for their support and the Armed Forces "for the opportunity to plan for the future."
Earlier, Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko assured that the next competition will be certainly held in Ukraine.
"Holding the next Eurovision will not be a problem for us, even in such times."
The Minister noted that the next competition "will take place in Ukraine, period", and where exactly - "we will consult because our society is tolerant."
At the same time, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said on May 15 that "Kyiv is preparing for Eurovision again."
On June 10, the Government established the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine in 2023. The Organizing Committee will be headed by the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and their Deputy will be the Minister of Culture and Information Policy. The task of the Committee is to coordinate the preparation and implementation of activities foreseen by the song contest.
It will be recalled that Ukraine hosted Eurovision twice - in 2005 and 2017. Both times the competition was held in Kyiv.
