The preliminary results of the US presidential election are already known. According to a number of US media outlets, Republican Donald Trump has been elected the 47th President of the United States of America. Here's a look at how the US election went and who has already delivered a congratulatory speech to Trump.

US elections: voting results

As of 10:00 a.m. Kyiv time, all polling stations in the United States have closed. Some regions have already counted almost all the votes.

According to US media reports, Donald Trump has 267 electoral votes, while his opponent, Kamala Harris, has 214 votes. Thus, Trump lacks only three votes to finally close the issue of the winner of this election. It is worth noting that the results have not yet been announced in at least six states.

Also, we should not forget that in the United States there are elections to the Senate and the House of Representatives. As Trump said, both are won by representatives of the Republican Party.

Zelensky, Macron and more: who has already congratulated Trump on his victory?

The entire world is watching the US presidential race, and leaders of other countries are no exception. After Trump took to the podium to address his supporters in Palm Beach and declared himself the new US president, a number of foreign leaders issued congratulatory statements.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine

The Ukrainian leader said he was ‘looking forward to an era of strong United States’. According to Zelenskyy, Trump won an ‘impressive’ victory.

‘Congratulations to Donald Trump on his impressive election victory! I recall our wonderful meeting with President Trump in September, when we discussed in detail the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, the Victory Plan, and ways to end Russian aggression against Ukraine. I appreciate President Trump's commitment to a ‘peace through strength’ approach to world affairs. This is exactly the principle that can bring a just peace to Ukraine in practice,’ Zelenskyy said.

Emmanuel Macron, President of France

Macron expressed his readiness to work with Trump, as he did during his first term.

‘Congratulations, President Trump. We are ready to work together, as we did during the previous four years of your term. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For greater peace and prosperity,’ he wrote on social media platform X.

Other leaders

In addition to Zelenskyy and Macron, such high-ranking officials as Prime Ministers of Hungary and Israel Viktor Orban and Benjamin Netanyahu, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, Austrian Chancellor Carl Negammer, President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and others have congratulated Donald Trump.

What should Ukraine expect if Trump wins?

During the election campaign, Trump repeatedly stated that he intended to stop the war in Ukraine. These statements were made with an objective pathos, saying that he would be able to resolve this issue before he entered the White House.

In his victory speech, which was delivered after the first clear election results, Trump also stated that he intended to stop wars, presumably referring to Ukraine and the Middle East. According to the Republican, he will not allow new military conflicts during his four-year term.

Based on Trump's and Zelensky's statements, Ukraine is ready to work with the new White House, and the newly elected American government will try to end the war that has been going on in Ukraine for almost three years.

In any case, the world is likely to receive minimal answers to the question of how the US election will affect the situation in Ukraine in the near future. As expected by the US media, after his victory, Trump will first of all call the leaders of the warring countries and offer some kind of solution to end the fighting.

To recap. Zelenskyy's trip to Pennsylvania sparked a flurry of criticism from the Republican Party. Its leader, Donald Trump, accused the Ukrainian president of ‘attacks’ against him. We explained the essence of the scandal and what its consequences are already being felt.
